JOB TITLE: ARD FACILITATOR
REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL EDUCATION
FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT POSITION
SALARY: $58,195 - $63,980 ANNUALLY
WORK DAYS: 192 DAYS
LOCATION: GEORGETOWN TX
COMPETENCIES: VALID TEXAS TEACHING CERTIFICATE IN SPECIAL EDUCATION PREFERRED
POSITION SUMMARY:
To coordinate and implement the special education IEP process, including scheduling and conducting IEP meetings. Work cooperatively with administrators and instructional personnel to provide the most appropriate programs for students with disabilities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Schedules, Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) meetings and notifies parents of the ARD meeting, including distributing of ARD calendar invite to appropriate ARD Committee members in a timely fashion; notifies all appropriate school personnel of ARD meeting/ARD schedule changes and coordinate schedules for ARD meetings with appropriate campus staff, administrators, other special education staff, and parents.
  • Schedule all Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) committee meetings as assigned.
  • Lead the ARD committee meetings regarding the development of the Individual Education Plan (IEP) and appropriate placement of students eligible for services.
  • Meet timelines required for annual and other requested ARD meetings.
  • Work with the School Psychologist/Diagnostician to ensure all required notices have been sent and evaluations are reviewed within established timelines.
  • Ensure all federal, state, and district requirements are met when conducting ARD meetings.
  • Make recommendations to the ARD Committee when necessary for the educational programming based on student's goals, needed services, and federal/state/district requirements.
  • Show accuracy when using PEIMS coding to represent appropriate instructional arrangements, related services, and other services provided through special programs.
  • Review state assessment reports for accuracy with Special Education Department.
  • Help Registrars with transfer paperwork and make sure students paperwork is distributed in a timely manner.
  • Take deliberations during the ARD meeting and discuss with the committee
  • Ensure all required documents and supplemental forms are reviewed and included in the IEP paperwork.
  • Request all signatures on IEP Documents as to Orenda's policies and procedures to include Signature Page, Notice of ARD, Notice of Procedural Safeguards and the Guide to the ARD Document; Transition related signatures, and any other pertinent documents.
  • Send out IEP paperwork as documented in Orenda's policies and procedures in a timely manner.
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
  • Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, and colleagues.
  • Dependable performance and dependable attendance.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of campus and district staff.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Participates in all continuing professional development and help to lead PD as directed by the Special Education Department.
  • Help to analyze critical needs in assigned areas and work collaboratively to implement and improve programs.
  • Protects confidentiality of students and their families.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES REQUIRED:
  • Knowledge of special education rules and regulations

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/EXPEIRIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university and valid Texas Teacher Certificate
  • Special Education Certificate Preferred
  • Two years teaching experience including experience teaching students with disabilities

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Some district-wide travel to multiple work locations as assigned.
  • Duties involve walking, sitting, standing, in-door, and out-of-door activities and some lifting.
  • Must have and maintain a level of general physical/emotional health, which permits effective performance of duties.
  • Regularly lifts and carries 1 - 50 pounds.
  • Required high level of mental alertness and requires ability to tolerate high levels of stress.
