Job description


Work with technical assistance and guidance. Work with progressively less guidance
and instruction as knowledge, skill, and experience in classification increases.
Assist in and or perform the receipt, unpackaging, move to storage, and shipment of
missile rocket motors.
Assist in and or perform the transportation of inert and explosive major missile
components to and from magazines and processing buildings using gas, electric, and
diesel powered trucks and trailers and other FBM facility specific handling support
equipment.
Assist in recording data, maintaining records and processing documents pertaining to
the movement and handling of missile components.
Assist in and or perform dispatcher functions.
Assist in and or perform grounding tests in Limited Area (LA) using appropriate meters
and test equipment (SWFLANT ONLY).
Assist in and or perform maintenance and repair of support equipment and material
handling equipment and performing preventative maintenance.
Assist in and perform movement of general freight items within the facility.
May work at heights of 20 feet and greater with applicable fall protection equipment.
Basic Qualifications
Typically requires a minimum of 12 months of experience in directly related work.
Possess elementary knowledge of rigging for the purpose of listing and moving large
multi-ton objects.
Possess mechanical aptitude and the ability to use general purpose hand tools.
Ability to read and follow checklists in proper sequence.
Ability to work from applicable U.S. Navy publications, missile processing documents,
and vendor manuals.
Ability to read various gauges and instruments and record test data.
Ability to perform work in confined spaces as required to perform job tasks (SWFLANT
ONLY).
Skilled in the use of computers and ability to learn new computer applications.
Ability to qualify for and maintain required operating certifications/qualifications and/or
licenses to operate over head bridge and jib cranes, forklifts, tow tractors, trucks, semi trailers and other equipment as required.
Must possess a valid state driver's license and will be required to qualify for or possess
a CDL with class "H" endorsement, material handling equipment license, and explosive
driver's license.
Ability to meet and maintain the requirements of the Personnel Reliability Program
(PRP)
Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance. Must obtain an Interim Security Clearance.
