Job description

Looking for an opportunity to work with a talented team and expand your experience in Logistics? SSI needs to add a Logistician I, Junior, Ordnance Handler to support our current list of services provided for the U.S. Navy.
Primary Functions:
  • Perform shipping, receiving, warehousing and inventory duties at the magazine area of the Weapons Division.
  • Inspect, off-load, verify and receive incoming shipments from commercial carrier vehicles.
  • Package, prepare for shipment and load carrier vehicles with outgoing shipments, to include blocking and bracing.
  • Store materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods and procedures.
  • Re-pack, palletize, and apply appropriate markings of materials.
  • Generate and apply bar code labels for materials in storage, incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Operate storage areas in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
  • Retrieve and process materials for transport or release to customers.
  • Handle and process classified material up to and including security classification of SECRET.
  • Prepare and submit all corresponding documentation including, but not limited to, inventory records, receipt documents, shipping documents, reports of discrepancy and any necessary reports and submittals.
  • Inventory magazines using bar code scanners.
  • Operate various up to and including five (5) ton stake trucks and different types of materials handling equipment, to include forklifts.
  • Perform daily/weekly alarm system checks and inspections.

Pay ranges from $35.79 per Hour to $39.48 per Hour
Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to work in extreme heat, cold and adverse weather conditions while working in and out of magazines and buildings.

Education/Experience/Skills:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, possess a valid Class C California driver's license with Hazard material stamp and obtain and maintain U.S. DoD SECRET Security Clearance required for hire, and to be maintained throughout employment.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ordnance/Munitions handling and forklift operations experience required.
  • Inventory experience required.
  • Experience with operating vehicles up to five (5) ton stake trucks.
  • Must be able to pass and maintain a periodic medical examination and hold an Explosive Handler's Certification and shall be qualified and certified under the OPNAVINST 8023.14 Series and NMCDETCLINST 8023.24A, Explosive/Energetic Material Handling Personnel Qualification/Certification (QUAL/CERT) program.
***Must join UNION within 90 days of employment.
