SF – 223 Grating Sales Manager – Houston, TX | Metal Manufacturing

Summary:

The Gratings Sales Manager is responsible for leading and executing the commercial strategy for the gratings business across the United States. This role focuses on driving revenue growth, expanding market presence, developing strategic customer relationships, and identifying new business opportunities within industrial, construction, infrastructure, oil & gas, and related markets, while also supporting limited business development activities in Canada and Puerto Rico.

The ideal candidate is a results-driven sales professional with strong technical and commercial knowledge of steel gratings and industrial products, capable of managing key accounts, negotiating contracts, and managing customers throughout the entire sales cycle.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and execute sales strategies to grow market share, profitability, and customer relationships across the United States, while supporting expansion efforts in Canada and Puerto Rico.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, strategic accounts, and sales territories within industrial, infrastructure, energy, construction, and fabrication markets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors, contractors, fabricators, engineers, and end users to drive long-term business growth.
  • Prepare and manage quotations, bids, contracts, pricing strategies, sales forecasts, pipeline reports, and market analysis to support strategic planning and management review.
  • Lead and manage the commercial team dedicated to steel bar grating sales, including outside sales, commission representatives, inside sales, customer service, and commercial support personnel across U.S. and Mexico operations.
  • Coordinate closely with operations, production, logistics, and customer service teams to ensure accurate order processing, timely fulfillment, and alignment between customer requirements, quotations, and production schedules.
  • Maintain accurate customer records, sales activity, forecasting, and order tracking within ERP/CRM systems while proactively resolving customer concerns and operational issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, reinforce company values and customer service standards, and promote operational excellence across all commercial activities.
  • Travel as required to customer sites, trade shows, and industry events throughout the United States and occasionally internationally.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial sales, steel products, gratings, or related industries.
  • Proven ability to develop business opportunities, manage key accounts, maintain sales pipelines, and support strategic growth initiatives.
  • Experience with project-based sales, bid processes, industrial customer environments, and steel fabrication or grating applications preferred.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, customer service, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in ERP/CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; SAP experience preferred.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing order processing, documentation, and commercial coordination accurately.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, International Commerce, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Management, or related field preferred.
  • Ability to travel frequently within the United States and occasionally internationally.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
