Position: Warehouse Equipment Operator - Part Time Seasonal

Part Time Second Shift Hours

4 pm to 8 pm

Hourly Rate - $19.00 plus $1.50 shift differential for hours after 2 pm

We are currently in search of Part Time Seasonal Equipment Operators to help our facilities build book fairs for schools. These part-time seasonal positions offer a variety of hours to work during the peaks of the school year (Monday-Friday) and are typically off during summer and winter school leave periods. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working at significant heights as the primary piece of equipment is the Order Picker.

This is a safety sensitive position and Power Equipment Operators must pass a drug test before they are authorized to operate equipment in a Scholastic facility.


SUMMARY

Be a part of the team who builds and delivers Bookjoy as a Power Equipment Operator - Level I. Join a dedicated team in an
active environment where your daily activities of building a book fair include working safely, learning, demonstrating proficiency,
and meeting all productivity and quality requirements of your essential duties and responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Expertise/Functional:

  • Demonstrate proficiency and effectiveness in functions of PEO - Level I, including inventory movements, cycle counts, perform daily equipment inspections, and asset storage.
  • Consistently meet minimum required production, accuracy, and quality standards for all work performed.
  • Follow all safety policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Ensure work area is neat, clean, safe, and organized per operational standards
  • At any time may work on temporary projects associated with other position descriptions as part of individual and team development.

  • Is reliable and dependable in fulfilling obligations.
  • Demonstrates regular and punctual attendance in accordance with SBF policy.
  • Responsible for proper handling of product at all times.

Planning & Organizing

Working with Tools & Technology

  • Demonstrates appropriate use of tools and technology to complete work functions according to standard process and procedures.

  • Maintain compliance with drug and alcohol-free policy.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.   • High School Diploma or GED Certificate preferred.
  • Must be trained and licensed to operate power equipment
  • For non-internal promotions, candidates must have a minimum 1 year power equipment operation experience.
  • Requires satisfactory completion of a forklift training program.
  • Ability to demonstrate basic product scanner proficiency (i.e., ordering replenishment) effectively with minimal errors.
  • Strong team player and the ability to get along with co-workers.
  • Good verbal/written communication skills, basic math skills, and ability to read documents in English, such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to lift boxes that weigh up to 50 lbs occasionally on a daily basis
  • Must be able to stand, reach above and below the shoulders, squat, bend and kneel as necessary to perform the job
  • Must be able to tolerate work in a non-air conditioned environment
  • Must be able to successfully complete the training required and become certified to operate the powered industrial equipment the operator is assigned to use as well as maintain their certification on that same equipment.
  • Must be drug free and participate in and pass the initial drug screen as well as all future random drug screens.
  • Must be able to correctly wear any personal protective equipment (PPE) necessary to perform any task requiring the wearing PPE.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
