Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

Role:

So, what's the job? Some call it Order Selector, but we like to say you're an Industrial Athlete. You know how in sports, players go all out for a short time? Like how a football player busts it out for four quarters? Well, you, our Industrial Athlete, keep that energy going for a solid 10 hours, four days a week.

As our star player, you'll be handling about 1,500 cases every shift. And these aren't feather-light, either; they're anywhere from 30 to a hefty 72 pounds. Expect a workout: you'll be walking, stretching, bending, and generally moving around. Think of it this way: you'll cover more than 10 kilometers in one day, just doing your job! It might sound like the same play over and over, but it's all about challenging yourself and upping your game.

About the hours? Well, our shifts start at 3 pm, with 4 shifts per week occurring from Sunday to Friday. Each shift is scheduled up to 12 hours with overtime as required. Due to the nature of business, some shifts will be required to work on stat holidays with additional stat pay or time in lieu of. It's a different kind of schedule, but hey, it might be right up your alley. The pay's pretty sweet, and the better you work - fast, safe, and on-point - the more you can make. Starting hourly wage is $31.19 per hour and then increases to $31.75 per hour after 6 months with additional increases every year. $1.00 per hour night shift premium and an additional $1.00 per hour freezer premium if working in that area.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Maintains an acceptable level of production and accuracy while selecting foodservice orders.
  • Loads pallets to ensure safe delivery of product to customers.
  • Adheres to all Preferred Work Methods and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Understand and comply with Sysco's policies and procedures, e.g. health and safety.
  • Carries out duties in a safe manner as instructed through safety training.
  • Participate in various meetings/groups (shift, departmental, company and safety).
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Manager and Supervisors.

Qualifications/Skills/Job Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • English fluency
  • High volume warehouse experience using a pallet jack and/or forklift is beneficial
  • Medium to high level of physical exertion is required; repetitive, continuous lifting up to 70 pounds
  • Ability to work in a cold/freezer environment.
  • Safety conscious with a teamwork attitude
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
