Job description

What does it mean to be a part of the Order Selection team?
In this fast-paced role, you are the boots on the ground and responsible for accurately and efficiently pulling customer orders within the warehouse. This role requires strategic thinking and attention to detail while palletizing orders and ensuring they are placed in the correct assigned locations. You will operate motorized equipment including Electric Pallet Jacks while ensuring that you safely and accurately move product within the warehouse. Pay:
  • Starting wage is $23.80/hour with a pay increase upon 2 consecutive weeks of hitting productivity
  • $2.00/hr for Weekends
  • $2.00/hr for Freezer environment (if applicable)

Schedule:
  • Schedule is subject to change by management and through warehouse rebidding process with the union
  • Common starting schedules could be Tuesday-Saturday, Sunday-Thursday, Friday-Monday depending on availability. 9:45am Start time.
  • Average 10-12hour shifts

Position Requirements:
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Warehouse experience selecting is preferred but not required
  • Lifting objects weighing from less than 20 to 60lbs consistently
  • Occasionally pushing, reaching, pulling, and gripping
  • Must have the ability to work in various temperatures

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  • Identify the pick locations and safely pick the items
  • Inspects assigned equipment for safety issues
  • Picks the correct item and quantity, checking UPC's or item descriptions
  • Places labels on the side of the cases
  • Shrink wraps and labels with correct truck, stop and other required information.
  • Stages pallets in appropriate bay and builds a stable pallet
  • Immediately informs a supervisor or manager of any potential safety threats, any violation of company policy, keeps area clean and debris out of work area
  • Operates pallet jack/pushcart in a safe and efficient manner
  • Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Experience:
  • Warehouse/Operations preferred but not required
  • Understanding of WMS preferred but not required
  • Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

Knowledge:
  • Understanding of Safety guidelines
  • Strong knowledge of applicable Bakco functions and RF systems

Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to select at established minimum rate for department
  • Astute, close attention to detail
  • Understand and properly follow all selecting procedures and verbal instructions in your respective area: grocery, repack, cooler/freezer.
  • Possess an understanding of procedures in other areas of the warehouse for a more global understanding of all processes

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/ DEMANDS:
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently.
  • Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Perishable Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Grocery Operation
  • Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures.
  • Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.
  • Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties. Ability to operate work related equipment
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
