Job description

Overview:
The Counter Sales Associate plays a crucial role in providing outstanding customer service, whether customers visit our stores or contact us via phone. This position involves understanding customer needs, familiarizing oneself with product offerings and inventory, and ensuring a smooth sales process for customers. The primary goal is to leave customers satisfied and with a positive impression of our service.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Customer Service:
    • Promptly greet customers and answer phone inquiries.
    • Efficiently address all customer requests and inquiries.
  • Order Management
    • Manage delivery schedules and collaborate with yard, dispatch, and outside sales teams to ensure seamless service.
    • Follow up with customers in a timely manner.
  • Relationship Building:
    • Cultivate strong relationships with customers while maintaining a courteous and professional image.
  • Sales Transactions:
    • Accurately process sales transactions in accordance with company policies regarding pricing, discounts, and payment terms.
  • Product Knowledge:
    • Maintain knowledge of inventory, including hardware and special orders, and understand how products are utilized.
  • Additional Duties:
    • Assist with inventory management and perform other assigned responsibilities.

Qualifications:
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
  • Possess strong math, language, and reading skills; basic computer proficiency may be required.
  • High school diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of the construction/building industry is an advantage.
  • Exceptional organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physically capable of standing and walking for extended periods, as well as lifting and moving items up to 50 pounds.
