These roles can include satellite engineers, mission controllers, aerospace technicians, and analysts who monitor and maintain satellites or plan space missions. Orbit jobs are critical to industries such as telecommunications, Earth observation, navigation, and space exploration, requiring specialized knowledge in aerospace engineering, physics, and data analysis. Professionals in these positions often work for agencies like NASA, private space companies, or satellite service providers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an orbital engineer?

Description:Quality Assurance Specialist

FUNCTION: Orbit Farm Technologies

SUB FUNCTION: Service

REPORT TO: Managing Director

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

LOCATION: Remote - United States

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred

EXPERIENCE: 0 – 1 years

Position Overview

Orbit Farm Technologies (A CCR Technologies Company) is a leader in agricultural technology, specializing in biosecurity systems, compliance automation, and operational efficiency solutions for livestock production. We support producers, veterinarians, and audit teams with tools that ensure consistent adherence to biosecurity standards and best practices.

The Quality Assurance Specialist ensures the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of every biosecurity audit performed within Orbit Control. This role reviews auditor work against each client's specific biosecurity requirements, identifies gaps or deviations from protocol, and provides corrective feedback to keep quality top of mind across the audit team. The Quality Assurance Specialist also partners closely with the Onboarding Specialist to help train and onboard new auditors, ensuring every auditor starts strong and understands exactly what a high-quality audit looks like.

This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who thrives on both rigorous quality review and hands-on coaching. All work is performed remotely, using digital tools, video calls, and Orbit Control to support auditors from anywhere.

Responsibilities

Audit Quality Review

  • Review submitted audits for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to each client's biosecurity requirements within Orbit Control.
  • Identify inconsistencies, missing information, or deviations from protocol, and provide clear corrective feedback to auditors.
  • Conduct secondary reviews of flagged or high-risk audits to ensure integrity and consistency across the audit team.
  • Monitor auditor performance metrics and document quality trends or recurring issues.

Auditor Training & Onboarding

  • Partner with the Onboarding Specialist to train new auditors on Orbit's audit procedures, digital tools, and reporting processes.
  • Create and maintain training materials, checklists, and reference guides that reflect current client requirements and best practices.
  • Offer ongoing coaching to auditors, answering questions and reinforcing quality standards as they build confidence.
  • Lead onboarding sessions and shadow reviews for new auditors during their first completed audits.

Process & Standards Improvement

  • Recommend improvements to audit processes, scoring criteria, and quality standards based on observed trends.
  • Partner with Product and audit leadership to refine Orbit Control's audit tools and workflows.
  • Collaborate with the Onboarding Specialist to ensure client-specific biosecurity rules are accurately reflected in auditor training and audit criteria.
  • Support onboarding automation or tooling initiatives that improve consistency and help the audit team scale.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Track and report on key quality metrics (audit accuracy, review turnaround, auditor readiness) to leadership.
  • Maintain digital records of auditor performance, quality scores, and audit outcomes.
  • Summarize audit quality trends, compliance gaps, or training needs for leadership.
Technical Skills
  • Experience in quality assurance, auditing, or training roles, ideally within compliance, agricultural technology, or a software-with-service environment, with a track record of taking on senior-level scope and responsibility.
  • Working knowledge of livestock biosecurity risks and protocols; swine production experience a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear, constructive feedback.
  • Comfortable using Orbit Control and HubSpot, and interpreting quality and performance metrics.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with the Onboarding Specialist, Product, and audit leadership teams.
  • Self-starter who’s comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
  • A genuine passion for quality, coaching, and helping auditors succeed.

Work Schedule

  • Part-time, fully remote position with flexible hours.
