Requirements

Advanced knowledge of Oracle products, such as: Oracle RAC on Exadata/ODA, OEM 12c, Data Guard, GoldenGate, Advanced Security, Audit Vault, Database Vault, Grid Control, Partitioning, Flashback, Network configurations and Storage Configurations

Broad knowledge of database system performance and tuning, database technologies and tools, excellent analytical ability, judgment and problem analysis techniques

Strong experience and background with Oracle technology covering all aspects of managing a database from logical design to physical implementation covering OLTP, DSS and DW designs.

Advanced knowledge and experience with performance tuning techniques for Oracle 10g/11g databases running standalone or in Oracle Real Application Clusters (Oracle RAC) with Oracle Automatic Storage Management (Oracle ASM).

Experience with advanced techniques like Instance Caging, I/O Resource Manager (IORM), Database Resource manager (DBRM) to manage to desired SLA is required.

Solid Experience with tools like Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) - 11g or 12c, and FogLight for tuning Oracle and SqlServer databases. 

Strong analytical ability, judgment and problem solving skills, in-depth knowledge of the business unit's functions and applications, and a broad knowledge of systems and technology alternatives, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively and independently with clients and IT managers    

5+ year experience with performance tuning of applications and databases for Oracle implementations 


Qualifications

Responsibilities

Provide critical thinking and hands-on technical expertise in performance tuning and optimizing Oracle (10g/11g/12c RAC databases on Exadata or Linux blade servers) in OLTP and OLAP environments.

Provide in-depth performance tuning support during various stages of SDLC of a project for Oracle database upgrades and other Invest projects.

Understand application requirements and lead database performance management and capacity solutioning sessions for Enterprise Oracle Upgrade programs

Provide design for RAC based database solutions for OLTP and DataWareHouse workloads with a view to maximizing throughput and optimizing resource utilization.

Ensure that database performance meets or exceeds Business defined SLA, by providing guidance to Application team for database and code tuning.

Assist with the diagnosis and resolution of performance and capacity-related incidents and problems 

Ensure that proactive measures to improve the performance of databases are implemented.

Work with Infrastructure Architects, APP DBAs, Application Architects, Vendor Reps in case of third party software, and business subject matter experts to understand requirements and provide solutions in accordance with Hartford best practices and published standards.    

Educate and influence stakeholders to reduce complexity and cost in database environments by promoting database consolidation and rationalization.

Provide guidance to APP DBAs for Database and server consolidation

Work closely with Database Engineering team to create effective database solutions that ensure optimal performance, high availability, reliability, and scalability.
