JLL - BMS/OT Technology Support Specialist(P4)

Location: Anywhere in the US (ET preferred)

Work Schedule: Remote, M-F 8 AM - 5 PM

Reports to: Head of Smart Building Services, Americas

Estimated compensation for this position is: $100,600 - $137,000 annually

What this job involves:

The BMS / OT Technology Support Specialist provides hands-on technical expertise supporting building technology (BT) operations for assigned client accounts, covering the full stack of BT assets - from BMS supervisory controllers and HVAC interface devices to the compute infrastructure that supports them. This role is the primary technical executor for the account's building technology program and works in close coordination with the Building Technology Coordinator. This role is part of the Operational Technology team, whose combined expertise covers the full technical scope below. Candidates are not expected to have deep expertise in every technical area - a highly desired candidate will have a broad knowledge of all areas with strong, demonstrated strength in several of them.

What your day-to-day will look like:

Vulnerability & Patch Management

  • Identify vulnerabilities in BMS/OT connected assets; plan and validate remediation paths using vendor resources and security advisories.
  • Test new software versions in a development environment; create and validate baselines prior to production deployment.
  • Execute patching across BMS supervisory devices (JACE/JENEsys), HVAC equipment controllers, and building technology applications.
  • Deploy approved software updates; support vendors and contractors through deployment; troubleshoot post-deployment issues.

Certificate & Credential Management

  • Renew and manage certificates for JACE/JENEsys devices, BMS supervisory equipment, HVAC controllers, and server infrastructure supporting BMS applications.
  • Sign and manage certificates for assets connected to the building/OT network; support certificate automation initiatives as they are introduced.

Product Onboarding & Technical Intake

  • Review and validate device onboarding and offboarding across diverse networks, including IP address, MAC address, and certificate signing.
  • Support new OT product onboarding end-to-end: lab testing, proof-of-concept validation, intake documentation, and asset scanning (e.g., Qualys, Tenable, or Phosphorus.io).

BMS Operations, Troubleshooting & Monitoring

  • Troubleshoot and restore BMS systems and services including offline and unresponsive assets; review system alerts and coordinate incident triage and resolution.
  • Monitor servers and storage supporting building technology applications; manage application backups and coordinate hardware replacements.
  • Respond to support requests from facility teams, property managers, and facility management partners; troubleshoot application and network issues affecting building technology operations.

Application Technology Ownership & SME

  • Manage overall technology health, stability, security, and compliance of BMS and building technology applications; oversee application lifecycle from onboarding through retirement and decommissioning.
  • Serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for application support, governance, enhancements, and risk management; manage vendor relationships for application maintenance and upgrades (e.g., Siemens, Distech, Lynxspring, or other Niagara-based controls contractors).

Project Implementation

  • Support BMS controls cutovers, system startups, and new user group creation for new construction and retrofit projects.
Required Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Technical Management, or a related technical field (equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of degree).

Technical Skills (depth in several of the following, not necessarily all)

  • 5+ years of hands-on BMS experience with expert-level familiarity with Niagara Framework (Tridium JACE/JENEsys).
  • OT network infrastructure: VLANs, LAN segmentation, DHCP/DNS, switch management, firewall rules, and secure remote access (VPN, ZTNA).
  • Vulnerability identification and patch management for OT/BMS assets; working knowledge of Qualys, Tenable, or Phosphorus.io; full software release lifecycle management (testing, baseline, deploy, troubleshoot).
  • PKI certificate lifecycle management for building control systems and supporting servers; compute infrastructure operations: server monitoring, backup management, DR testing.
  • Experience as a technical SME for BMS or OT application ownership, including compliance and lifecycle governance.

Process & Governance Knowledge

  • Experience submitting and tracking technology change requests in ServiceNow or equivalent ITSM platforms; familiarity with OT/IoT security frameworks (e.g., NIST SP 800-82).
  • Ability to navigate enterprise IT governance environments where OT/BMS intersects with corporate IT security policy.

Soft Skills

  • Independent, self-managing; translates technical findings into actionable items for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Vendor-neutral and collaborative when working alongside multiple integrators, contractors, and managed service providers.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications: Tridium Niagara, GICSP, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent.
  • Experience with OT-specific asset discovery and vulnerability management platforms (Phosphorus.io preferred).
  • Background in financial services or other regulated enterprise real estate environments.
