OptumRx helps consumers obtain the medications and products they need to live healthier lives.  OptumRx is a leading pharmacy benefit management (PBM) company managing the prescription drug benefit of commercial, Medicare and governmental health plans, as well as those of employers and unions. 

The continuous growth and success of our organization has led to this search for a Financial Underwriting Consultant to join our team. 

The successful candidate will play a key role in the implementation of new business and renewal clients, ensuring the accurate and timely transition of sold rates, plan designs, and client-specific requirements into operational processes. This position offers the opportunity to develop a broad understanding of the financial, operational, and client service aspects of the business through collaboration with underwriting, sales, implementation, and operational teams. The department is headed by the Vice President of Pricing of OptumRx. This position is full-time Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8am - 5pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. 

This will be on the job training and the hours during training will be during normal business hours.  

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage renewal and new business implementation workflows to ensure timely and accurate execution of sold pricing and plan design changes.
  • Complete implementation steps for sold and renewing business, completing all necessary actions to ensure accurate case setup and successful transition to downstream teams.
  • Collaborate with internal business partners to coordinate resolution of implementation issues, escalations, and process-related challenges.
  • Determine pricing for the various products and services we offer, customized for each individual case using a variety of forecast models
  • Leverage business knowledge to propose solutions to business problems regularly in a dynamic work environment
  • Gather, summarize and analyze detailed data with an aptitude for technical skills 
  • Validate renewals, repricing requests, and request for proposal (RFP) submissions for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established guidelines.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Must be 18 years of age OR older 
  • 1 years of project workflow coordination and/or management skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritize a high volume of workflow requests while collaborating effectively with internal partners across multiple teams
  • Experience with Microsoft Word (create correspondence and work within templates), Microsoft Excel (data entry, sort / filter, and work within tables) and Microsoft Outlook (email and calendar management)
  • Ability to work full-time Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8am - 5pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime

   

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Healthcare industry experience
  • Pharmacy Benefit Management experience
  • Database querying exposure
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (V-Lookup, Sumif Statements, and understanding formulas)

  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $60,200 - $107,400 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
