The Sr. Software Engineer will be a part of Optum's Bank platform.  Optum Bank supports HSA accounts at scale, while modernizing a large, transaction heavy banking ecosystem. You will be a part of standing up new lending capabilities and transforming legacy systems into a more scalable, real time, microservices based platform to support significant growth in accounts and financial products.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Predict emerging customer needs and develop innovative solutions to meet them
  • Solve unique and complex problems with broad impact on the business
  • Attend and contribute to all Scrum ceremonies
  • Lead large, complex projects to achieve key business objectives
  • Translate highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences
  • Influence senior leadership to adopt new ideas, products, and/or approaches
  • Deploy and maintain Applications/Systems
  •  Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions to address complex business challenges with emphasis on responsible use of AI.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of Software Engineering experience
  • 10 years of experience with the System Development Life Cycle
  • 8 years of software development experience with .NET and/or Microsoft stack development tools
  • 5 years of experience with SQL Server, including native SQL, stored procedures, functions including optimization
  • 5 years of experience working with CI/CD tools such as Azure Dev Ops or similar
  • Ability to function as a mentor for junior developers, providing assistance where needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in financial services or banking industry
  • Experience with Kubernetes, terraform and Microservices infrastructure
  • Experience with Agile development using Scrum or Kanban
  • Full stack development experience
  • Public Cloud Experience
  • UnitedHealth Group work experience

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $91,700 to $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
