Their duties often include conducting preliminary eye tests, assisting with patient exams, maintaining equipment, and managing patient records. They help ensure that eye examinations run smoothly and efficiently, allowing optometrists to focus on diagnosing and treating patients. Familiarity with autorefractors, lensmeters, electronic health record (EHR) systems, and diagnostic imaging equipment is typically required. Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask help you provide quality patient care and assist optometrists efficiently. These skills ensure accurate test results, smooth patient flow, and a positive clinical experience in busy eye care settings.
