Optometric Technician - Milford, MA

The Optometric Technician at Target Optical creates exceptional value in the lives of patients by delivering exceptional patient service and ensuring all patients receive the highest quality of care. Enthusiastically satisfies patients all the time through exceptional service.

Major duties and responsibilities include greeting guests without delay, showing urgency in providing service, determining the reason for the guest's visit, explaining how to shop at Target Optical, explaining all required paperwork, tests, products, and services, being attentive to details, reviewing prescriptions and/or patient information carefully, identifying special needs, consulting with Opticians, Doctor or Retail Management when necessary, showing patience and courtesy to indecisive or difficult guests and patients, performing work accurately and thoroughly despite time pressure and guest volume, identifying situations involving unsatisfied guests and acting quickly for resolution, demonstrating knowledge of appointment book/scheduling procedures and computer operation/procedures, handling and filing all patient records in an organized and efficient manner, placing contact lens orders, processing shipments, and properly submitting invoices for payment, accurately operating the POS system, taking pride in the appearance of the store, showing initiative in keeping the displays clean, attractive, and organized, informing management of potential safety opportunities, demonstrating safe work practices, complying with all safety/regulatory requirements, ensuring supplies/chemicals are stored and used appropriately, performing all pre-examination testing with accuracy and attention to detail, taking the initiative to explain all measurements and answering any questions the patient may have, utilizing clinical and product knowledge, providing coaching and guidance to patients on the care and handling of contact lenses, maintaining and disinfecting contact lens inventory, and providing clinical support to the Optometrist as needed.

Basic qualifications include minimum of one-year strong guest service skills, high school graduate/GED or equivalent experience, strong communicator and listener to guests and associates, strong basic math skills, strong interpersonal skills, sales skills, knowledge of store merchandise, familiarity with cash register, computers, and calculators. Preferred qualifications include previous experience in guest service, retail, or optical.
