Job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will assist in providing exceptional patient care within a busy optometry practice. This role involves supporting clinical operations, managing patient intake, and ensuring accurate documentation in electronic health records (EHR) systems. Candidates with experience in medical office procedures, optical experience, or clinic settings are encouraged to apply. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment focused on improving patient vision and eye health.

Duties

  • Greet and prepare patients for examinations, ensuring a smooth check-in process.
  • Collect and document patient concerns, vital signs, medical history, and current medications.
  • Assist with patient intake by gathering relevant health information and updating medical records.
  • Perform basic optometric tests such as visual acuity, intraocular pressure measurements, refraction assessments.
  • Perform a variety of special testing such as a Visual Field (HVF) or Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT).
  • Operate our EHR system accurately and efficiently.
  • Support the optometrist during examinations by preparing necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
  • You will be required to travel between our two locations. Our 2nd Location is in Mahnomen MN 56557
  • You may be asked to cross train/float between roles.

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma

Other Preferred Requirements

  • Prior experience in medical office settings or optometry.
  • Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and clinic procedures related to eye care.
  • Strong typing skills to clearly document patient's concerns, questions, and/or anything else that needs to be documented.
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare setting while maintaining our high standard of care.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time wisely while maintaining attention to detail.
