Job description

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist in Charge experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This opportunity is ideal for a multi-licensed Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) eager to contribute expertise in a specialized long-term care pharmacy setting. The position offers part-time hours with a focus on Tuesdays and Thursdays, supporting an established, skilled team in a closed-door mail order pharmacy environment.

Location:

  • Gaithersburg, MD (contract to hire)

Schedule:

  • Part-Time, 16-24 hours per week
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7 AM to 3 PM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage daily pharmacy operations as the PIC, ensuring strict compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Supervise and collaborate with a team of pharmacists and 6 experienced pharmacy technicians to maintain high standards of medication dispensing.
  • Review, verify, and approve prescriptions, ensuring safe and effective medication therapy for long-term care patients.
  • Maintain quality assurance programs, oversee controlled substance compliance, and enforce policy implementation.
  • Work closely with healthcare providers and nursing staff to facilitate optimal medication management and timely delivery.
  • Support sterile compounding operations when applicable, including clean room activities.

Qualifications:

  • Active Maryland Pharmacist License plus licenses from AL, AR, CA, LA, NE, OK, OR, TX.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ pharmacy management experience.
  • At least 2 years’ recent Long-Term Care/Mail Order pharmacy experience.
  • Experience in sterile compounding is an advantage but not required.
