Job Description Step into a high-impact field role where your hands-on cable and electrical expertise keeps critical oilfield operations running. This contract position offers varied, on-site work across Odessa, TX, supporting production teams with rapid diagnostics and repairs on ESP and related cable systems. Shift: 11 Days on and 3 days off.

Shift - 6AM - 6PM (12 hours) About the Role: You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing ESP cables and associated electrical systems in the shop, ensuring safe and reliable operation of equipment. Working closely with operations and maintenance teams, you will troubleshoot complex cable and electrical issues to minimise downtime and protect production. This role is ideal for a technician who thrives on solving problems under time pressure and working independently in a field environment.

Key Responsibilities: Perform installation, termination, and testing of ESP cables and related electrical components in shop environments Conduct on-site troubleshooting and diagnostics on ESP cable systems to identify faults, failures, and performance issues Carry out repairs, replacements, and adjustments to cables, connectors, and electrical components to restore optimal operation Use electrical test equipment (e.g., multimeters, megohm meters, insulation testers) to verify cable integrity and system performance Document all diagnostic findings, repair actions, and test results accurately for reporting and future reference Coordinate with field supervisors, engineers, and production teams to plan and execute cable work safely and efficiently Adhere to all safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and company standards while working on energized and de-energized systems Key Requirements: Proven experience as a Cable Technician or Electrical Technician in oilfield, industrial, or similar environments Strong hands-on skills in troubleshooting and diagnostics of electrical and cable systems, including fault isolation Specific experience working with ESP cable systems and associated downhole/production equipment Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation Proficiency using standard electrical test instruments for cable and insulation testing Comfortable working independently in the field, including remote locations and varying weather conditions Strong focus on safety, with the ability to follow and enforce safe work practices Desirable Skills: Prior experience in Permian Basin or similar oil and gas production environments Familiarity with VSDs/VFDs, switchgear, and surface electrical equipment associated with ESP systems Basic mechanical aptitude for handling and routing cable and related hardware Experience working with service tickets, digital work orders, and field reporting tools Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required Technical certification or vocational training in Electrical, Electronics, or Industrial Maintenance preferred Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Relevant electrical or industrial safety training (e.g., OSHA, H2S, LOTO) preferred If you are a skilled Cable Technician with strong ESP and electrical troubleshooting experience, apply now to take on a challenging contract role that directly supports critical oilfield operations.
