Job description

The Social Media & Communications Specialist leads Helix Electric’s social media presence and digital brand visibility while supporting broader internal and external communications efforts. This role reports to the Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications and is centered on social media strategy, content development, campaign execution, platform management, website content, and performance tracking, with added responsibility for brand messaging, public relations support, and employee communications.

The ideal candidate is a creative, detail-oriented marketer and communicator who can translate company priorities into compelling content, grow audience engagement, and ensure a consistent brand voice across all channels.

DUTIES & SCOPE:

Social Media Strategy and Content:

  • Lead Helix Electric’s social media strategy across relevant platforms, ensuring content supports brand awareness, recruitment, culture, and business development goals.
  • Develop and manage monthly and annual content calendars, campaign plans, and paid or sponsored social media initiatives.
  • Create, schedule, and optimize social media content, including campaign copy, visuals, event promotions, and company highlights.
  • Monitor platform trends, audience behavior, and industry activity to recommend timely content opportunities and strategic pivots.

Digital Presence and Brand Visibility:

  • Manage and grow Helix Electric’s presence across social and digital channels, including emerging platforms as appropriate.
  • Maintain and update website content and support ongoing website modernization efforts.
  • Manage company internet accounts and business listings to ensure accuracy, security, and optimized visibility.
  • Track and report on social media, website, and campaign performance using analytics tools, applying insights to improve reach and engagement.
  • Ensure consistent brand tone, voice, and visual identity across external channels and digital content.

Communications and Public Relations Support:

  • Support broader communications initiatives by drafting external announcements, press materials, award submissions, and strategic advertisements.
  • Assist with media outreach, press contact coordination, and brand visibility opportunities as needed.
  • Contribute messaging support for executive communications, company milestones, and major initiatives.

Internal Communications and Events:

  • Support internal communications that inform and engage employees, including newsletters, announcements, internal highlights, and culture-focused messaging.
  • Partner with department leaders to promote internal programs, achievements, and events.
  • Coordinate communications support for trade shows, industry events, philanthropic activities, training programs, and other company functions.
  • Help maintain productive relationships with vendors and external partners in support of events, campaigns, and brand initiatives.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Social media skills in all modern platforms
  • Creating and maintaining client relationships with our GC and subcontractor partners for event purposes
  • Working knowledge of ad serving tools
  • Solid knowledge of website and marketing analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, NetInsight, Omniture, WebTrends, SEMRush, etc.)
  • Expert knowledge in all Social media platforms
  • Strong knowledge in Adobe Suite, Phot Shop, InDesign & Canva
  • Possess initiative, execution and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Social media skills in all modern platforms
  • Creating and maintaining client relationships with our GC and sub-contractor partners for event purposes
  • Possess analytical, problem-solving, organization and time management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in social media, digital marketing, communications, or a related role.
  • Strong experience managing social media platforms, content calendars, campaigns, and audience engagement.
  • Strong writing, editing, storytelling, and verbal communication skills across formats and audiences.
  • Working knowledge of website content management, SEO, and digital analytics tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, InDesign, Canva, CapCut, or similar creative tools.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Construction or AEC industry experience is a plus.

The starting base pay for this role is between USD $70,000.00 and $80,000.00 per year. The actual base is dependent upon many factors, such as: location, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands.  The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
