Under the general direction of the Supervising Transportation Electrical Engineer in the Office of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), the Senior Transportation Electrical Engineer (Supervisor) serves as the District's ITS Development and New Technology incumbent. The incumbent supervises and provides technical guidance in the planning, scoping, development, and management of the District's Transportation Management System (TMS) and communication network. This position supports consultant-designed Architecture & Engineering (A&E) ITS projects and oversees TMC enhancement initiatives, including upgrades to video walls, TMC server rooms, and software systems that support TMC operations. The incumbent manages professional staff responsible for preparing and reviewing reports, plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) for the installation of TMS elements, communication systems, connected vehicle technologies, and other electrical systems. The role also includes researching and recommending emerging technologies to improve the district's ITS and TMS communications infrastructure. Additionally, the position is responsible for implementing continuous improvement strategies and designing resilient infrastructure to protect TMS, electrical systems and fiber optic communication infrastructure & communications backhaul. The incumbent ensures efficient, timely, and high-quality delivery of TMS and TMC projects from initiation through completion, including resource planning and scheduling.

Working Conditions
Position located at 100 S Main St Los Angeles CA, Los Angeles County.

The incumbent works in a climate-controlled office setting under artificial and natural lighting for the majority of the time. On occasion, the incumbent will be required to travel and be exposed to traffic conditions in the field.
This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans's evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee's designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

• Possession of a valid certificate of registration as an Electrical Engineer issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers is required.

Describe your experience in planning, developing, and delivering ITS and TMS projects. Include your role in project scoping, systems engineering, consultant management, and deployment of innovative technologies such as ATMS, DCRMS, and ICM systems.

How have you contributed to the integration of regional traffic operations and data-sharing initiatives? Highlight your involvement in RIITS, PeMS, and inter-agency coordination to improve real-time traffic management and traveler information.

What strategies do you use to ensure successful delivery of complex ITS projects under various procurement methods - Task Orders)? Discuss your approach to contract oversight, cost reconciliation, and schedule management, especially for high-profile or multi-agency projects.

Provide examples of your leadership in managing multidisciplinary teams and stakeholder partnerships. Emphasize your ability to lead engineering teams, coordinate with local agencies, MPOs, and drive collaborative solutions for congestion relief and safety improvements.
