Job Description
Exciting internship opportunity for students who have successfully completed two semesters in an Associates Optics program!
Hone your skills in optics fabrication and learn from the best in the business to create precision optics (l/10 wave or better).
Come explore the San Francisco Bay area and the Silicon Valley during your summer break!
Essential Duties:
• Independently run generating, polishing, and centering machine centers.
• Operate inspection equipment such as microscope, micrometers, height gages, Vernier calipers, interferometer, and radius bench.
• Read and understand both optical and traditional blueprints.
• Perform cleaning and cosmetic inspection of finished optics according to customer requirements.
Requirements
Education and Skills:
• Successfully completed two semesters in Associates in Optics program.
• Strong math and communication Skills.
• Analytical troubleshooting / problem solving. Computer skills.
• Good time management and independent work habits.
Physical Demands:
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to fingers, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
• Lift up to 25lbs
• The job may at times involve prolong periods of sitting/standing.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. May involve periods of magnified inspection for quality control.
• Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.
• The employee is frequently required to use the computer.
Work Environment:
• May involve the use of oils and solvents.
• The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and manufacturing fumes.
• May work at different workstations as production needs require, or shifts from one station to another, during the production process.
