Eye Associates of Winter Park — Experienced Dispensing Optician (Growth-Focused + Licensure Sponsored)

About Us

At Eye Associates of Winter Park, we’ve been caring for our community for 41 years with a simple belief: people first. When we invest in our team, our team delivers an exceptional experience to every patient—so our practice grows the right way. Many of our patients feel like family, and we treat each other the same way: with respect, support, and high standards.
Who We’re Seeking
We’re looking for more than someone who can dispense great eyewear—we’re looking for a career-minded optical professional who wants to grow into leadership.
You may already have strong optician skills, but what will set you apart here is a leader mindset:
  • You take ownership and look for ways to improve the patient experience
  • You’re coachable and want feedback because you’re building a long-term career
  • You naturally help elevate the team (without needing a title to lead)
  • You’re motivated by growth, responsibility, and becoming the best in your craft
Most importantly: we want someone who wants to become a Licensed Dispensing Optician. If you’re ready to pursue licensure, we’ll provide the mentorship, structure, and financial support to help you get there.
The Position

This is a full-time role (40 hours/week) with a consistent schedule:
Monday–Friday
No weekends

What you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Provide outstanding patient service while fitting, adjusting, and dispensing eyewear
  • Recommend frames and lens options confidently, with a balance of function + style
  • Clearly explain vision insurance benefits so patients feel informed and cared for
  • Manage eyewear orders: submit to labs, process claims, track timelines, and ensure accuracy
  • Keep patients updated on order status and resolve issues with professionalism and urgency
  • Maintain strong attention to detail to ensure quality, comfort, and patient satisfaction
Leadership opportunities (as you grow):

  • Help refine optical workflows for smoother days and better patient outcomes
  • Support training/mentoring of newer team members over time
  • Serve as a “go-to” person in the optical area—trusted by teammates and patients
  • Take ownership of optical excellence: accuracy, presentation, patient education, follow-through
Career Growth & Licensure Path (We Invest in You)

We’re intentionally seeking someone who wants to advance—not stay in the same place.
You’ll receive:

  • Mentorship and coaching from a supportive team that wants to see you win
  • A clear pathway to grow your responsibility and influence in the optical department
  • Enrollment in the AOA Licensed Optician Fast Track Program (fully covered by us)
  • Paid support for the resources needed to pursue your licensure goal
  • Ongoing encouragement, accountability, and guidance as you progress
If your goal is to become licensed and build a long-term career in opticianry, this role is designed for you.
Qualifications

You’ll thrive here if you have:
  • 1+ years of experience in optical sales
  • Strong multitasking and prioritization skills in a patient-facing setting
  • A positive, proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and strong follow-through
  • Comfort with basic math and accuracy in order entry
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a professional presence
  • A good eye for style and current frame trends
  • Strong phone etiquette and patient-first communication
Pay & Benefits

We value great people and reward strong performance.
Compensation:

  • $16–$20/hour, based on experience
  • Quarterly performance-based bonuses
Benefits:

  • 401(k) with company matching
  • Health insurance
  • Dental insurance
  • Life insurance
  • Generous paid time off
  • Professional development support and a real opportunity to grow into leadership
