Summary:

Under the supervision of the specialty Practice Manager in conjunction with the director of eye care services, the optical associate/ Optician Apprentice will perform daily optical tasks including assisting ordering of eyeglasses, dispensing, and proper documentation of order.


General Duties and Responsibilities:

· Ensure Seamless patient care by coordinating with clinic staff such as optometrist, interns and registration

· Assist patients in selection, ordering, delivering, and repairing eyeglasses, contact lenses and accessories.

· Perform basic optical and purchasing calculations

· Responsible for the maintenance of optical frame inventory and other items as needed

· Perform other related duties as required

· Support the learning and training of intern working in dispensing

· Complete proper documentation of optical order in the EMR (Eyefinity) in a timely manner

· Respond to patient optical inquiries and concerns in a timely manner

Requirements:

Education:

· High school diploma or GED required

§ Opticianry program completed (preferred)

Experience:

· Previous experience in optical sales

· Good communication and interpersonal skills (preferred)

· Basic computer literacy

Software/Hardware:

· Must be proficient and have strong working knowledge of Microsoft office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)

· Experience with electronic medical record (preferred)
