This role requires employees to work onsite at our Canton, NY location.

Scope of Position:

The purpose of this position is to provide measurement engineering support and programming on a variety of measurement equipment used in a glass manufacturing facility.  A few examples of the measurement equipment overseen by this position includes:

  • Interferometers
  • Fluorescence and Raman measurement systems
  • UV-Vis Spectrophotometers
  • FTIR measurement systems
  • Polarimeters
  • Various other measurement systems

Other activities required of this position include:

  • Representing Metrology Department in meetings to assist in resolving product specification vs. measurement capabilities issues with sales, product engineering and our customers.
  • Lead projects to improve capacity, capability or cost of current measurement equipment or lead projects to install new measurement equipment as needed.
  • Write, audit and maintain process documentation as needed, and as scheduled.
  • Writing experiment plans and reports.
  • Attend Process Engineering and/or Production-related meetings.

 

Required Education or Experience:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Physics, Optics, Optical Engineering or equivalent discipline
  • Minimum 5 yrs experience in an engineering, metrology, or optics position 
  • MS Office; particularly Word, Access and Excel; ability to build queries, set up spreadsheets with formulas, etc.
  • Experience in C#, Python, .NET, SQL or other programming languages
  • Able to methodically think through and solve complex problems
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams, vendors, other Corning facilities, and in a union work environment
  • Willingness to interact with others and actively seek out answers
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision (can plan / organize their activities based on objectives)

The range for this position is $95,144.00 - $130,823.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
