Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Effectively manage overall lab operations during second shift. Plan and coordinate work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing eyewear in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications. Monitor production schedules to meet set targets and produce all jobs on time. Collaborate daily with first shift production managers to ensure clear expectation and open communication. Ensure compliance with all governmental, safety and company rules and regulations. Lead change and drive continuous improvement at the Optical Lab.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

OPERATIONS

• Ensure maximum efficiency is attained across all areas in the lab by implementing, optimizing, and successfully managing production and quality standards at the lowest cost

• Maintain operational knowledge of all Optical Lab equipment

• Ensure that quality, cost, efficiency, and capacity goals are met or exceeded

• Evaluate quality of product to verify compliance with ANSI standards

• Monitor and adjust department production schedules as needed

• Allocate teammate resources to various departments as needed to ensure daily

production goals are met

• Collaborate with first shift production managers to prepare and maintain production reports

• Troubleshoot equipment related production issues and formulate preventive or

corrective action. Engage teammates as appropriate

• Recommend optimum production solutions and equipment requirements

• Maintain involvement to reduce breakage, improve quality, increase jobs per hour and enhance material flow

• Ensure budgeted financial goals and objectives are communicated and achieved

• Achieve measurable Key Performance Indicator (KPI’s) improvements

• Communicate with first shift team to ensure an effective transfer of responsibilities between shifts

TRAINING AND IMPROVEMENT

• Ensure teammates receive applicable Optical Lab training to perform all aspects

of their job including safe and efficient equipment operations in addition to work

and safety procedures as outlined in their respective job description

• Engage in ongoing research to remain up to date on new technologies in

production and for possible implementation

• Partner with production leads and managers for input on teammate’s performance reviews and development plans

• Provide production leads and teammates with ongoing performance feedback

• Implement measures to motivate teammates and to improve morale, production methods, efficiency, equipment performance, productivity, and product quality

• Foster an inclusive culture for all teammates at the Optical Lab

MAINTAIN SAFE WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Ensure teammates follow all Optical Lab and company policies and adhere to safety related guidelines and OSHA regulations

• Ensure machinery is operating safely and effectively

• Ensure teammates perform stretching before reporting to workstation

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Graduate or equivalent

• Minimum 5 years leadership experience. Optical manufacturing environment or production environment preferred

• Lab management system experience preferred

• Demonstrated hands on leadership capability

• Exceptional organizational skills

• Sound decision-making ability

• Professional written and oral communication skills

• Interpersonal skills

• Able to problem solve in a professional and timely manner

• Critical thinking and analytical skills

• Able to multi-task and prioritize

• Able to trouble shoot in a production environment

• Able to provide accurate feedback to production leads and teammates

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & WORK REQUIREMENTS:

• Able to effectively communicate at all levels within the organization through written

and two-way verbal communication

• Able to read and write at a high school graduate level

• Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time

• Able to operate various Optical Lab equipment and office equipment

• Demonstrate physical agility (bending, climbing, twisting, squatting, lifting, pushing,

reaching, etc.) on a repetitive basis

• Able to lift an average of 25-35 pounds on a repetitive basis and up to 75 pounds

• Able to see (Near, Distance, Color, and Depth Perception)

• Manual and finger dexterity, as well as hand/arm steadiness

• Able to grip and hold items

• Good eye and hand coordination

• Able to work in a fast-paced production environment

• Ability to perform work in various departments within the lab based on business needs

• Able to work second shift and/or extended (weekends) office hours to meet established deadlines

• Able to travel independently to support company objectives and personal development
