Business Development Manager, Automotive Aftermarket - Oxford, CT

RBC Bearings, Inc. is seeking an entrepreneurial, driven, strategic, energetic, individual with significant experience in the automotive aftermarket industry to join our team.

The Business Development Manager will drive strategic, profitable growth in the assigned market(s). Strong collaboration skills are required to effectively work closely with the sales organization, establish strategies to penetrate new target accounts and increase penetration at existing accounts. In addition, the incumbent will focus on establishing the product road maps required for sustained profitable growth. Complete market research to identify new market opportunities for growth. This position is onsite in Oxford, CT and travel is required to support associated projects and activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Possess strong analytical skills to intuitively build data into useful information, interpret it, and communicate the results effectively. Must be able to identify trends and strategic opportunities that fit into the goals and objectives of the company. Complete and present market research and analysis for upper management, monitor trends.
  • Establish and attain short & long-range goals. Must be self-driven, energetic, aggressive and detail oriented with solid PC skills In Microsoft Office.
  • Must develop extensive knowledge of company products and applications, along with strategic and tactical objectives for the business by the customer to meet and surpass sales plan objectives. Identify new market opportunities.
  • Develop superior customer procurement and engineering relationships calling at accounts frequently and effectively, bringing value to the customer enabling RBC to gain a competitive advantage for company products.
  • Presentation at monthly operations meetings of critical metrics such as booking rates, delivery rates, forecast adjustments, quotation activity, order backlog, new business opportunity and progress, stock availability and booking trends.
  • Provides data to prepare, update forecasts covering projected new business sales, bookings, proposal activity/costs by customer and program.
  • Develops marketing plans, business plans, sales strategies, and action plans for identified targets of opportunity that clearly define objectives, goals, strategies, schedules and action assignments.
  • Obtains new business programs. Provides direction and leadership to implement division sales strategy.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with customer procurement contacts, engineers, and other professional and technical personnel.
  • Maintain an accurate status of major corporate level opportunities and projects, including activity history and next actions required.
  • Position is based in our Corporate Office in Oxford, CT with moderate travel as required.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or applicable management field preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in Business Development, Sales or Sales Management within the automotive aftermarket industry.

SKILLS / CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred
  • Strategic thinking and analysis (pricing, market segmentation)
  • Able to manage/balance competing priorities
  • Must have excellent computer skills and experience with Microsoft Windows applications (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
