Responsibilities

 Structural engineering and project management
 
•    Provide structural modeling and analysis services, troubleshooting and failure investigation for Manufacturing partners
•    Identify and utilize appropriate building codes (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318, AWC-NDS, etc.) 
•    Develop, adopt and maintain corporate and site-specific structural engineering standards
•    Lead preparation of construction drawings, specifications and cost estimates for capital projects of all sizes from conceptual idea through construction and start-up
•    Represent Eastman as the subject matter expert on large growth projects
 
Internal customer interfaces
 
•    Develop a strong relationship with internal customers to proactively identify infrastructure problems, develop cost effective recommendations and provide advice regarding structural issues during preliminary scope efforts
•    Be flexible to remotely support Eastman manufacturing sites domestically and internationally
•    Split time between fieldwork and desk work with ability to work successfully in a multidiscipline, collaborative, team-oriented and fast-paced environment
•    Participate and contribute to the professional development of the civil/structural/architectural team

Qualifications

Required
 
•    Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university is required
•    3+ years of experience as a practicing structural engineer 

 
Preferred  
 
•    Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) certification or license 
•    Previous work experience at an industrial/utility manufacturing or power generation facility 
•    Proficiency in structural design software (STAAD PRO, RISA or other structural analysis programs)
•    Experience with project scope development and estimation 
•    Experience designing for large capital projects (>$5M), along with experience making sound engineering judgement calls in the field during construction and operation 
•    Experience conducting infrastructure assessments and generating recommendations on minimum required repairs
•    Excellent organization & prioritization skills, including the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects  
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•    Desire to proactively integrate into complex engineering projects during early scope development through detailed design and start-up
