Job description

Foundry Employee Level 1 – Melting

Reports To: Foundry Supervisor

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Wear all PPE required
  2. Follow all GIW Safety guidelines
  3. Keeps area neat, clean, and safe
  4. Secure and rope off pouring floor prior to pouring
  5. Able to work any scheduled hours
  6. Able to follow and understand work instructions
  7. Able to read a tape measure
  8. Able to follow and understand SOPs
  9. Able to set up and sand in molds
  10. Able to bolt up closed molds and understand bolting requirements
  11. Able to inspect molds with a borescope camera
  12. Able to set and pull mold weights
  13. Able to understand and verify riser height
  14. Operates overhead crane, skid steer, forklift, and dump trucks
  15. Able to understand and document inspection forms for cranes, forklifts, man lifts and scissor lifts
  16. Knows how to patch ladles
  17. Must understand and perform the process of slagging off ladles during pouring
  18. Follow all instructions given by team leads and supervisor

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently:
    • Standing, walking, sitting, bending, squatting, stooping
    • Lifting, pushing, and pulling <75 lbs.
  • Occasionally:
    • Overhead work
    • Climbing ladders or stairs
    • Driving forklifts
    • Operating cranes
