The Role

The Furnace Operator Trainee will observe furnace runs, programs, charts, gauges, and recording instruments. This role will be responsible for making critical decisions in a manufacturing environment. Commitment to and support of the Company Core Values are key to success in this position.


Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with quality, engineering, and customers
  • Loading/unloading parts on a furnace base/grate
  • Setting up load thermocouples as per specifications
  • Observe furnace runs, programs, charts, gauges, and recording instruments
  • Capable of making “required” changes without supervision
  • Reporting of non-conformances through NCR’s
  • Responsible for reporting to work on a timely/daily basis
  • Following all safety rules and regulations
  • Possess multi-tasking capabilities
  • Reporting non-conformities to the Supervisor/manager
  • Setting up a furnace load using fixtures, graphite’s, ceramics, and weights
  • Operating the forklift trucks
  • Operating cranes and shop equipment
  • Uphold the company core values
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications & Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Experience working with heavy machinery or in a manufacturing environment (Nice to have but not required – We’re willing to train!)
  • Must be able to follow instructions and procedures and work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be capable of reading drawings and inspecting the work being performed.
  • Ability to comprehend written and/or verbal instructions
  • Must be able to read prints/schematics
  • Experienced in working with inspection tools, shop equipment, such as: Running the Aqueous Ultrasonic Wash Tank, Forklift Truck, Cranes, and etc.
  • Must understand and meet the following: Quality, engineering, and customer requirements
  • Ability to setup furnace load per w/o requirements, spec, photos, verbal instructions, etc.
  • Possess working knowledge of alloys, alloy application, and mixing alloys
  • Reporting results and data directly to supervisors, managers, and quality
  • Must have good documentation and organizational skills
  • Disciplined in following safety signs, warnings, and labels
