Job description

Packer Operator is a valued member of the EDCO Products Roll-forming team. This full-time, non-exempt position is based in Hopkins and reports to the Production Supervisor. This is a 1st shift position with normal working hours of Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM โ€“ 3:30 PM. This position is responsible for all packaging needs on the production line. Packer Operator is responsible for folding and creating boxes, using pneumatic staple-guns, handheld tape guns and other material handing tools.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all packaging needs such as product packaging, labeling, stack, palletizing, and transport finished workpieces in a timely manner.
  • Ability and high motivation to work in a safe team environment, efficiently.
  • Execute general housekeeping at the lines and assist on 5S activities.
  • Ability to communicate with all other employees on the line.
  • Report all safety concerns to Machine Operator, Safety Team member and/or Production Supervisor.
  • Reports machine and product quality issues to machine operator.
  • Effectively capable of unplanned changes during the day which also includes from one building to another.

  • Must have the ability to be able to communicate in English and some Spanish may be required.


Qualifications - Preferred

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English is required to effectively communicate with team members, follow work instructions, and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards
  • Prior experience of a minimum 6 months in any labor duties that include using hands, power tools, pneumatic tools, exposed to household chemicals and small to large assemble jobs.
  • Prior experience with a consecutive minimum of 6 months in a manufacturing and/or high-speed packaging environment would be considered.
  • Mechanical Experience with hand tools (i.e., pneumatic staplers, handheld hacksaws, tin snips) preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules.
  • Must exhibit the willingness to learn all aspects of packaging with the potential for new ideas and is conscious of safety standards.
  • Exhibits a high attention to detail in order to successfully meet finished product requirements and identify quality issues.
  • Applicants must be able to communicate effectively in English to perform the essential duties of this position.

  • The ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time on concrete or uneven surfaces with regular periods of stooping, bending, reaching, pulling/pushing, stooping/twisting, gripping, and some pinching and keyboarding.
  • The ability to lift/carry (from floor to waist level), push, and pull 75-100lb

  • Exposed to moving mechanical parts, chemicals, and heat as well as cold temperatures (proper PPE & safety training will be provided)
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • High traffic areas and close quarters in some sections of our facility.
