Job description

The Greenstone Mine commenced production in May 2024 and will be one of Canada's largest open-pit gold mines, with annual production expected to average nearly 400,000 ounces of gold per year for an initial 14-year mine life with additional potential from a large underground deposit. Greenstone Gold Mines LP is owned by Equinox Gold Corp, a Vancouver-based mining company with seven other operating mines in the United States, Mexico and Brazil.

Job Summary

We are seeking an Excavator Operator to join our team. Reporting to the Mine Operations Supervisor, the Excavator Operator is responsible for safely and productively operating tracked excavators varying in operating weight.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate the excavator in a safe and efficient way in accordance with all relevant legislation, company policies and procedures.
  • Perform field level risk assessments.
  • Clean and lubricate the excavator, refilling all fluids.
  • Complete logbooks and daily reports on safety issues and production.
  • Use two-way-radio, and horn signals to communicate with other operators and ensure safety.
  • Use excavators according to operating practices to excavate materials such as overburden, sand, gravel, blasted rock, and snow.
  • Use excavators to scales walls, to bench and load mine haul trucks, to break rock with the rock breaker attachment.
  • Monitor gauges, and other indicators to make ensure the excavator is working properly, report discrepancies.
Required Experience and Skill Set
  • 2+ years of experience operating excavators at a mine site.
Job Conditions

  • Able to read, understand, and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate, and timely manner.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Certifications
  • Valid driver's license.
