Job description

Union Forklift Operator

Arrow Building Center, Lampert Lumber and Lyman Lumber Companies, divisions of US LBM provides a wide range of building materials to construction professionals, combining the advantages of our national scale with the excellent service levels, expertise, entrepreneurial culture and customer relationships of our local brands.

As a people-first company, passionate about continuous improvement, US LBM is proud to provide our associates access to the resources, training and developmental opportunities to empower them to succeed today, while growing professionally and preparing for the challenges of tomorrow.

We are seeking a Union Forklift Operator! We do more than stock high-quality building materials. We also deliver the promise of the American Dream, and our forklift operators are on the front line of that mission. We load, handle, source, and organize the yard so it runs like a well-oiled machine. This is a crucial position that affects all jobs, ensuring the team has the materials for the job to run smoothly and on time.

Pay Rate: $23.45 per hour What you should know about working here:

  • We're all about teamwork! All positions are hands-on, and we band together when necessary.
  • We support each other! We have local and corporate team members to help you along the way and partner on projects as appropriate.
  • We are a relaxed atmosphere. This is not a suit and tie environment.
  • We care about our communities. USLBM, our divisions and associates are committed to contributing to the communities where we live and work.
  • We work hard! We are a continuous improvement driven organization, and we are focused on keeping organized and on task.
  • We're built on safety. We provide a safe and healthy workplace for all our employees. Our employees go home in the same condition they came to work.

How you will spend your day as a Union Forklift Operator:

  • Receive in-coming warehouse products, commodities and materials.
  • Count and record receipt of materials.
  • Stock all material received in appropriate bins or storage locations.
  • Assist inventory control in counting and organizing warehouse materials.
  • Operate forklift with foot and hand controls.
  • Use forklift to build outgoing orders for lumber and building materials.
  • Use forklift to load completed orders onto delivery equipment maintaining safe procedures and stacking methods.
  • Load and unload trucks.
  • Check built loads to ensure quality and accuracy.

  • Have a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Basic math skills, ability to identify and measure commodities and specialty building products.
  • Physical demands include standing and walking for extended periods of time, exposure to extreme temperatures, bending or stooping, regularly lifting up to 50 pounds, and frequently up to 75 pounds or more.

Additional Potential Opportunities based on experience:
