Job description

Job Title: Machine Finishing Operator / Helper

Location: Santa Fe Springs, CA

Pay Rate: $20.00 – $22.00 / hour (DOE) + Overtime and Weekend shifts required

Shift: 1st Shift (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM) | 2nd Shift (2:30 PM – 11:00 PM)

We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Machine Finishing Operator / Helper to join our aerospace manufacturing team. Whether you bring specialized experience in precision belt grinding or entry-to-mid level machine shop skills, this hands-on role offers cross-training across belt grinding, polishing, and supporting Blanchard grinding/milling operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate manual belt grinding, deburring, and polishing machines to achieve precise aerospace finishes.
  • Assist machine operators with Blanchard rotary/mill machine setup, material loading/unloading, and staging.
  • Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, surface roughness testers, and basic gauges.
  • Perform material prep (degreasing, deburring), basic machine maintenance, wheel changes, and coolant checks.
  • Follow blueprints, work instructions, and aerospace documentation (AS9100) while maintaining strict safety and FOD procedures.

Qualifications

  • Grinder / Finisher Tier ($22/hr): 2+ years of belt grinding, finishing, or polishing high-spec metals (titanium/Inconel) to tight tolerances (Ra/RMS).
  • Helper Tier ($20/hr): Machine shop exposure preferred; mechanical aptitude, basic math skills, and willingness to learn are required.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring instruments.
  • Strong reliability, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
  • Forklift experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements & Environment
