Machine Operator Helper
Department: Production / Finishing
Reports To: Machine Operator / Shift Supervisor

Shift: 2nd shift (2:30pm - 11:00pm ) Overtime and early start times may be required based on production needs

Pay: $20/hour

Location: Santa Fe Springs
The Machine Operator Helper supports the setup, operation, and maintenance of Blanchard (rotary and/or mill) machines. This role assists the operator in preparing materials, maintaining workflow, and ensuring parts meet quality and safety standards. The position requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to work in a fast-paced machine shop environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist machine operators with setting up and operating Blanchard (rotary and/or mill) machines
  • Load and unload raw materials and finished parts onto machines
  • Clean and prep materials before machining (degreasing, deburring, staging)
  • Measure parts using basic inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) as instructed
  • Maintain proper identification and organization of job orders and materials
  • Remove finished parts and stage them for next operation or inspection
  • Keep machines and work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards
  • Assist with wheel changes, basic machine maintenance, and coolant checks (as directed)
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper PPE usage
  • Communicate effectively with operators and supervisors regarding job status or issues

Qualifications:

  • Prior manufacturing or machine shop experience is preferred but not required
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and job travelers
  • Basic math skills and ability to use measuring tools is a plus
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn machining processes
  • Forklift experience is a plus (if applicable)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Ability to stand for extended periods (8+ hours)
