Job Description:
SMT Operator Job Summary:
The SMT (Surface Mount Technology) Operator is responsible for setting up operating and monitoring automated equipment used in the assembly of printed circuit boards (PCBs). This role ensures electronic components are accurately placed and soldered according to production specifications while maintaining quality efficiency and safety standards. The SMT Operator performs machine setup loads materials conducts inspections troubleshoots equipment issues and supports continuous improvement initiatives to meet production goals.
Qualifications:
โ€ข Familiar with Bill of Materials (BOM'S) i.e. component part numbers reference designators and quantities.
โ€ข Able to perform kit audits to ensure correct component part numbers and quantities for SMT setups.
โ€ข Familiar with Surface Mount Processes i.e. stencil printing pick and place machines soldering inspection / Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) & microscopes.
โ€ข Familiar with component types and polarities.
โ€ข Familiar with IPC 610 class II standards.
โ€ข Comfortable operating automated production equipment and willingness to learn.
Inspect and test electrical and electronic systems such as radar navigational equipment computer memory units television and radio transmitters using precision measuring instruments. This assembly position requires working with small parts such as electronics and printed circuit boards. Good hand eye coordination and manual dexterity is needed. This position is a very sedentary position. You will not be required to move around a lot. You can be sitting or standing or a variety of both throughout your shift. You must be comfortable looking at small parts sometimes through a magnifying glass throughout your shift. This is a quiet and sedentary position
