Job Description:

The Engineering Operations Manager provides business analytics and reporting to the Engineering department. This role identifies and develops department metrics, translates business results into meaningful recommendations, and leads continuous improvement efforts that improve performance across the organization.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead process improvement initiatives for the MMG Engineering department and coordinate all e3 Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Support the engineering department and direct programs with tools and resources to perform engineering scope.
  • Lead Earned Value Management efforts for Engineering programs and coordinate status reviews for multiple levels of leadership.
  • Lead AI initiatives across the Engineering department to improve reporting, workflow efficiency, decision support, and continuous improvement through practical business applications.
  • Coordinate department metrics for Internal Research and Development, bids and proposals, manpower, engineering performance, and related operational reporting.
  • Manage department metrics using Power BI dashboards and support data-driven recommendations to improve business performance.
  • Lead special projects and root cause and corrective action activities for the Engineering department.
  • Oversee department activities such as training requirements, policies and procedures, capital and expense planning, and recruiting.
  • Champion best practices across the Engineering department, including collaboration, value engineering, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage manpower forecasting using the Labor Tracking System for the Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) process.
  • Travel occasionally to client sites or other company locations, typically less than 10 percent.
  • Support work requiring the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar technical field (e.g. computer science, data science) and a minimum of nine years of prior relevant experience; or a graduate degree with at least six years of prior related experience. Master of Business Administration preferred. In lieu of a degree, at least 13 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Proficient in Power BI report and dashboard design.
  • Proficient in Atlassian Jira.
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management tools such as Teamcenter.
  • Expertise in Earned Value Management Systems.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with information systems and database visualization tools such as SQL, Power BI, or Tableau.
