Job Summary:

Manufacturing Systems Engineer will be responsible for the development and sustainment of future factory, data analytics, manufacturing and warehouse systems within the site. The role will include developing technologies and systems pertaining to Industry 4.0, MES/MOM, electronically connecting equipment into our manufacturing enterprise system and to our 3D virtual factory models as well as the creation of the digital twin. This position will be a part of the site's Manufacturing Engineering Team and will collaborate with site's functional departments and the enterprise AME, AMT, and IT organizations to integrate our current operations into a digital architecture and advocate for the site's unique needs. This position is integral in creating the digital thread to connect between the digital and physical manufacturing and warehouse activities to optimize and standardize our processes. This role will support IT and OT efforts relating to sustaining engineering, new product launch processes and continuous improvement activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify opportunities for business improvement and suggest digital solutions to meet these needs

  • Define, design, implement, and maintain digital twin(s) transformation strategy from conceptual design and proof of concept through to operational stability in line with the company's objectives.

  • Prepare recommendations and documentation such as technology proposals, business case analysis, user stories and functional specifications according to standards and needs.

  • Manage and monitor the progress of digital projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and scope.

  • Assist in the evolution of our Operations Technology strategy to leverage learnings and mature our implementation and benefits of the digital optimization activities.

  • Assist in the evolution of our Information Technology strategy, including data analytics for problem identification, productivity, and continuous improvement, to leverage learnings and mature our implementation and benefits of the digital optimization activities.

  • Provide technical expertise and leadership for the timely resolution of manufacturing information processes and problems. Serve as resource for cause & effect analyses and corrective action planning.

  • Develop and implement manufacturing flows, workstation layouts, and station controls, which optimize the production process.

  • Work with IT and business stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of digital transformation projects

  • Provide training and support to employees to help them adapt to new digital systems and processes

  • Ensure all digital operations comply with data privacy regulations and cyber security/ SOC2 requirements.

  • Research and stay updated with the latest digital trends and technology advancements

  • Implement digital technologies to enhance customer experience

  • Coordinate with the enterprise team to implement the corporate strategy, including the development and maintenance of 3D virtual models of manufacturing production lines.

Specific knowledge in this role includes:

  • Automation Methods

  • Production Line Simulation

  • Project Management

  • Business Case Development

  • Use of Ignition Software

  • Integration of Equipment to a Manufacturing Enterprise System

  • Equipment Controls Experience

  • Knowledge and Experience in standard manufacturing skills such as:

    • Lean Manufacturing

    • OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)

    • Advanced Quality and Design Techniques

    • New Product Development

    • Capacity Analysis

    • Capability Analysis

  • Collaborate with SMEs both within factory and enterprise to deploy and improve strategic future factory initiatives

  • Provide coaching and training to develop SMEs and data analysis capabilities within factory

  • Qualifications:

  • bachelor's degree preferred, relevant years of work experience in Controls Engineering will be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Virtual Modeling, Digital Engineering, Digital Twin Management, or another related field

  • Knowledge of virtual factory production simulation, production floor automation methods, equipment controls, manufacturing execution system (MES)

  • Familiar with Industry 4.0 technologies

  • Familiar with both traditional and Agile project methodologies

  • Experience in change management Strong problem-solving and communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Ability to communicate and work with people at all levels of the organization

  • Strong Knowledge of Oracle Databases SQL Development

  • Strong knowledge of PLC Controls & Application Integration

  • Experience in Visual Basic.Net

  • Familiar with Ignition Platorm

  • Familiar with Delmia Apriso Experience
