Position Overview
Northrop Grumman's client is seeking a detail-oriented Security Support 2 professional to support security operations and administrative functions in Newport News, Virginia. The selected candidate will be responsible for processing security documentation, issuing employee and visitor credentials, maintaining access control records, and supporting personnel security activities in a fast-paced environment.
This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, experience handling sensitive information, and the ability to work within established security procedures and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and issue employee badges, identification cards, and security access cards.
- Process security-related information and maintain employment, clearance, and property control records.
- Collect and submit electronic fingerprints, handprints, and biometric information into designated systems.
- Maintain lock and key inventories and associated security records.
- Process visitor and employee authorization requests for access to restricted and controlled areas.
- Verify the accuracy and completeness of security documentation before issuing credentials or access approvals.
- Maintain controlled documents, records, and sensitive security information in accordance with company and government regulations.
- Support personnel security activities and administrative security functions.
- Enter, update, and maintain security data within electronic databases and tracking systems.
- Provide customer service support to employees, visitors, and contractors regarding badge and access requests.
- Ensure compliance with established security policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Assist with audits, inspections, and security record reviews as required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of additional education and/or related work experience.
- Experience performing administrative, records management, security, or access control functions.
- Strong data entry and recordkeeping skills.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and computer-based systems.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in personnel security, industrial security, or physical security environments.
- Experience issuing badges, credentials, or access cards.
- Knowledge of visitor management and access control systems.
- Experience collecting fingerprints or biometric information.
- Experience maintaining security records and controlled documentation.
- Previous experience supporting government, defense, shipbuilding, or military programs.
- Familiarity with lock and key control procedures.
