Job description

Job Description: Marina Operations Supervisor

Reports to: Regional Vice President

The Marina Operations Supervisor handles all aspects of marina operations within budgetary guidelines in an efficient, cost-effective, and creative manner. The Marina Operations Supervisor works collaboratively with Regional and Executive Team members as well as other colleagues throughout the organization.

The Marina Operations Supervisor provides the highest level of customer service in a friendly, helpful manner while accurately responding to the customers’ needs. He or she will project a professional company image through all types of interactions. This is a fast-paced environment, and the Marina Operations Supervisor must be able to work under pressure.

The position requires the team member to work 5 days per week and 8 hours per day. Seasonal schedule changes may take place at management discretion. This position requires weekend availability. Saturdays are required during the busy season and one weekend day each week is required during the off-season.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise the security and safety of the marina grounds and buildings to ensure the safety of customers and team members; provide training for team members about the safe use of marina equipment and all functions related to their respective positions, including the training of firefighting equipment and spill containment
  2. Routinely inspect all areas of the property to ensure a high-quality appearance and a proper safety environment, including restroom cleaning, proper stocking and presentation of the retail center for customers, thorough cleaning of docks / dry racks, ongoing trash pick-up, and other tasks that are consistent with this goal
  3. Understand and comply with government regulations about marina operations Monitor fuel levels and ensure they comply with TSSA standards
  4. Maintain a professional relationship with all agencies, contractors, vendors, and customers directly or via departmental supervisors
  5. Leads weekly meetings with other team members at the marina
  6. Respond to and resolve customer disputes consistent with company philosophy
  7. Approve and oversee all long-term boat storage leasing, the waiting list, and retail leasing. Oversee reservations and bookings for rental boats and slips. Ensure that the Leasing department keeps an adequate record of all business transactions at the marina (boats, trailers, and slips)
  8. Approve all purchases, invoices, and check requests
  9. Ensure proper controls to safeguard assets, including but not limited to equipment and inventory
  10. Ensure that all company and customer equipment are secure each evening prior to lock up
  11. Ensure and take appropriate action for the proper maintenance of all marina equipment, property, grounds, office, retail store, fuel dock, rental boats, dry racks, and floating or fixed docks
  12. Coordinate with other management personnel to ensure the efficient running of all departments, communicate work responsibilities to team members of different roles, and keep track of any employee absences or injuries
  13. Respond to windstorms, flooding, or other emergency events that could damage marina assets or guest property
  14. Manage employee disciplinary issues by documenting incidents and working with Human Resources to develop Performance Improvement Plans as necessary
  15. Manage employee schedules by reviewing and approving timesheets as well as PTO and Sick requests in ADP, ensuring proper scheduling of employees to meet the needs of the marina
  16. Notify Human Resources and submit appropriate documentation for Workers’ Compensation claims and OSHA incidents
  17. Perform such duties as assigned by the GM and executive leadership

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

  8. Professional conduct and excellent interpersonal and communication skills with team members, customers, tenants, vendors, and government personnel

  11. Ability to work in a team environment to achieve team, department, and company goals. Able to work with a diverse group of people of all different skill sets
  12. Ability to be a self-starter and work independently
  13. Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work
  14. Good presentation, facilitation, and computer skills
  15. Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Outlook email, Word, and Excel
  16. Must be willing to work on Saturdays each week during the summer season from May through October (6 months of the year), and available to work one weekend day each week during the off-season
  17. Must be available for 24-hour telephone contact for emergency response
