What does an operations strategy do?

An operations strategy defines how a company allocates resources, designs processes, and sets priorities to achieve efficiency, quality, and competitive advantage. It guides decision-making across production, supply chain, and service delivery, often involving tools like process analysis and performance metrics. This strategy aligns operational activities with overall business goals and may require skills in planning, analysis, and continuous improvement.

What is operations strategy?

Operations strategy is the plan that an organization uses to configure its resources and processes to effectively produce goods or deliver services. It aligns the operations function with the overall business strategy, ensuring that the company can meet customer demands efficiently and competitively. This often involves decisions related to production, quality management, supply chain, and resource allocation. Professionals in operations strategy analyze data and trends to optimize performance and drive long-term success for the organization.

Is operations strategy a high paying job?

Operations strategy roles are generally well-compensated, especially at senior levels or in large organizations, with salaries often reflecting experience, industry, and location. Professionals in this field with advanced skills in data analysis, process improvement, and strategic planning tend to earn higher salaries. However, pay can vary widely based on factors such as company size, geographic region, and individual qualifications.

In contrast, Supply Chain Analysts concentrate on analyzing and optimizing supply chain processes to ensure smooth logistics and inventory management. Both roles are essential in operations but differ in scope and focus.

How does an operations strategy professional typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements?

Operations Strategy professionals regularly work alongside departments such as finance, supply chain, marketing, and IT to identify inefficiencies and develop actionable plans for improvement. This collaboration often involves leading workshops, analyzing data with stakeholders, and aligning diverse teams on shared objectives. Effective communication and project management skills are crucial, as these professionals must balance strategic vision with day-to-day operational realities. By fostering strong cross-functional relationships, Operations Strategy professionals ensure that recommended changes are feasible and supported across the organization.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in operations strategy, and why are they important?

To excel in Operations Strategy, you need strong analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, and a background in business, engineering, or a related field, often supported by a bachelor’s or master’s degree. Familiarity with data analytics tools, process improvement methodologies (like Six Sigma), and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is typically expected. Exceptional communication, leadership, and adaptability help professionals stand out in cross-functional environments. These skills ensure effective operational improvements, strategic decision-making, and the ability to drive organizational growth.

Senior Manager, Revenue Operations- Strategy & Operations

EverDriven

Greenwood Village, CO • Hybrid

$130K - $175K/yr

Full-time

Re-posted 14 days ago

Job description

EverDriven is the nation's leading provider of alternative student transportation, partnering with school districts to serve students who need it most—including those experiencing homelessness, living with disabilities, or outside traditional bus routes. Our tech-enabled, human-led model helps remove barriers to learning through safe, reliable transportation.

Since 2006, we've helped organizations solve complex transportation challenges through strong partnerships, dependable service, and a people-first approach. Guided by integrity, ownership, and collaboration, we move with urgency, lead with data, and never settle. Our success is driven by people who bring curiosity, accountability, and a commitment to continuous growth.

Position Summary:

We're hiring a Senior Manager of Revenue Operations to serve as a force multiplier and act as the right hand to the VP of RevOps. You'll take high-level strategic priorities and turn them into executable programs that drive revenue performance across Sales and Customer Success. You'll take strategic direction and run with it: owning the programs, processes, and cross-functional coordination that power our go-to-market engine. Your primary focus will be Sales and Customer Success, with close partnership across Marketing Operations, Finance, and Field Operations where RevOps serves as a connective layer.

This is a player-coach role. You'll do the work, lead programs, and build your craft, while developing the leadership presence to grow into a formal people management position as the team matures. If you're someone who thrives in ambiguity, builds structure from scratch, and wants a clear path to Director-level ownership, this is that role. This is not a maintenance role, this is a build + scale role.

Revenue Operations at EverDriven is a strategic function, not a support function. We sit at the intersection of Sales, Customer Success, Finance, and Product, translating company strategy into operational reality. Backed by Charlesbank Capital Partners, we're on a steep growth trajectory and building the operational infrastructure to match.

Salary Range: $130,000 - $175,000/year, based on experience + bonus potential
Location - Greenwood Village, CO. 4 days in the office and 1 day remote.

How You Will Make an Impact:

You'll operate across the full RevOps surface area, owning programs end-to-end and driving real outcomes — not just recommendations.

Drive revenue engine performance

  • Design and optimize sales processes and funnel orchestration to improve pipeline health and conversion
  • Redesign forecasting methodology and operating cadence to create visibility and accountability
  • Lead territory planning and compensation programs, including quota design and tooling

Build structure from ambiguity

  • Translate executive-level ideas into clear plans, timelines, and execution frameworks
  • Establish scalable processes across Sales and Customer Success that support growth
  • Help define how our GTM teams operate together — from pre-sale through post-sale

Lead cross-functional execution

  • Drive alignment across Sales, Customer Success, Finance, and Operations
  • Own initiatives like deal desk, forecasting, and GTM planning — ensuring adoption and results
  • Influence stakeholders without direct authority and move work forward

Strengthen post-sale and retention insights

  • Improve how we track and act on retention and customer performance data
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to enhance the full customer lifecycle

What You Will Bring to EverDriven:

Experience & Background

  • 6+ years in Revenue Operations, Sales Operations, or GTM Strategy
  • Proven track record of owning and driving cross-functional initiatives
  • Experience in high-growth, PE-backed, or scaling environments preferred

Core Capabilities

  • Strong operations and process expertise (sales motions, forecasting, handoffs, cadences)
  • Salesforce fluency — able to translate business needs into system capabilities
  • Experience with compensation, territory planning, or GTM strategy
  • Familiarity with AI tools or workflow automation is a plus

How You Work

  • You take direction and run with it — no hand-holding required
  • You know how to ask the right questions before jumping to solutions
  • You create clarity in ambiguous environments and bring structure to complex problems
  • You influence and align stakeholders across functions, even without formal authority
  • You balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution

Benefits

  • Medical, Dental, Vision insurance
  • Virtual Doctor Visits with $0 Co-Pay
  • Life Insurance (company paid)
  • Short Term Disability Insurance (company paid)
  • Long-Term Disability Insurance (company paid)
  • Flexible Time Off (FTO)
  • Paid Holidays
  • Paid Time to Volunteer
  • Flex Spending Account (FSA)
  • 401K Plan (with an awesome employer match!)
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Employee Discounts Program
