Position Summary: The Lift Operations Supervisor at Eldora serves as a key member of the Lift Operations management team, working alongside the Lift Operations Manager and Assistant Manager to support the safe, efficient, and consistent operation of Eldora's lift system. This position provides leadership and oversight for daily operations, employee performance, training programs, and administrative processes across a department of approximately 100 seasonal employees. The Supervisor helps ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, regulatory requirements, and departmental procedures through active involvement in training, documentation review, incident reporting, employee accountability, and operational follow-through. This role also assists with hiring, onboarding, payroll administration, performance evaluations, and disciplinary processes while providing guidance and support to front-line leadership staff. The Lift Operations Supervisor plays a critical role in strengthening leadership presence on the mountain, promoting operational consistency, and supporting the ongoing development and retention of Lift Operations employees.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
  • Support day-to-day Lift Operations activities as a member of the department management team.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and operational support to Foremen and Lift Operators to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent operations.
  • Maintain a visible management presence across operating areas to monitor performance, address issues, and support frontline leadership.
  • Assist with staffing plans, shift assignments, and operational coverage to meet daily business needs.
  • Coordinate and oversee Lift Operator training programs, including onboarding, annual certifications, on-hill training, and ongoing skills development.
  • Ensure required training records, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), compliance documentation, and employee certifications are accurately maintained.
  • Assist with employee recruitment, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and retention initiatives.
  • Participate in employee performance management, including coaching, development, performance evaluations, corrective action, and disciplinary processes.
  • Review, complete, and maintain department documentation, including lift incident reports, employee injury reports, counseling records, and other operational records.
  • Assist with payroll administration, timekeeping review, and associated administrative follow-through.
  • Support compliance with company policies, ANSI B77 standards, OSHA requirements, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Investigate operational incidents, safety concerns, and guest or employee complaints, and assist in implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Promote and reinforce a culture of safety by conducting field observations, safety meetings, and ongoing employee education.
  • Coordinate with other departments to support mountain operations, special events, race training activities, and staffing needs.
  • Assist with planning and execution of seasonal startup, training, peak-period operations, and end-of-season shutdown activities.
  • Monitor operational consistency across all lift terminals and operating zones, ensuring adherence to established procedures and service standards.
  • Support the development and implementation of departmental goals, initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Serve as Manager-on-Duty for Lift Operations when assigned.
  • Sets the example by following all company safety policies and procedures, actively contributing to a safe working environment for self, coworkers, and guests.
  • All employees are expected to support Eldora's corporate responsibility commitment to protect the environment by participating in our Sustainable Transportation Program. This includes choosing alternative transportation, carpooling, using the employee shuttle, and avoiding onsite parking on weekends and peak days. These actions help reduce Scope 3 emissions, lead by example, and ensure adequate parking for our guests.
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, early mornings, evenings, and varying shifts as required by resort operations.

Specific Job Skills:
  • Must have a valid U.S. Driver's License and complete an MVR check to company standards.
    • Minimum age 18 years old to drive company vehicles.
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in ski area operations, lift operations, outdoor recreation, hospitality, or a related operational environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to supervise, coach, develop, and hold employees accountable.
  • Strong knowledge of lift operations, mountain safety practices, and guest service standards.

Physical Demands:

  • Eye/hand coordination & visual concentration on equipment
  • Concentrated reading and writing
  • Must be able to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs.

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Compensation: Proposed hiring rate of $26+/hour, actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
  • Benefits: This is a seasonal position eligible for season pass for employees/dependents and privileges at several other resorts. Several discount programs (i.e. food & beverage, retail/rental, tickets, etc.) also available. Additionally, this position accumulates sick time.
