Job Purpose:

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for leading and executing day-to-day HR operations while providing guidance to leadership on employee relations, compliance, and organizational HR practices. This role blends hands-on HR management with oversight of key HR functions to support a consistent and well-functioning workplace.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Job Functions:

  • Manage day-to-day HR operations, ensuring consistency, compliance, and follow-through
  • Lead the recruitment process including sourcing, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding
  • Serve as the primary resource for employee relations, including coaching managers and supporting disciplinary processes
  • Guide performance management practices, including documentation, corrective action, and performance improvement planning
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and Massachusetts employment laws and regulations
  • Oversee and support leave administration including FMLA, PFML, and ADA processes
  • Administer employee benefits programs including health, dental, and retirement plans
  • Maintain and update job descriptions, organizational charts, and HR records
  • Support leadership with workforce planning and staffing needs
  • Review and improve HR policies, procedures, and internal workflows
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and audit-ready personnel documentation
  • Lead or support HR-related projects and initiatives as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

  • Maintain confidentiality of all employee and organizational information
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of the organization
  • Communicate clearly and professionally in verbal, written, and electronic formats

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience with strong focus on employee relations and compliance
  • Strong working knowledge of Massachusetts and federal employment laws
  • Experience managing FMLA, PFML, and ADA processes
  • Experience with HRIS systems, ADP Workforce Now preferred
  • Ability to work independently while supporting leadership needs
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills
  • HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) preferred
