Overview

Seeking an experienced Data Center Facilities & Vendor Operations Engineer to support mission-critical facility operations in an active data center environment. This role is a blend of vendor coordination, facilities oversight, and operational support, with a strong focus on ensuring third-party vendors can efficiently complete work on-site and that critical mechanical systems remain online and fully operational.

You’ll play a key role in supporting and managing vendors, as well as coordinating response efforts when HVAC, geothermal, or other cooling/heating systems experience issues. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment and enjoys owning problems through to resolution.

Key Responsibilities

Vendor & Site Coordination

• Act as the primary on-site point of contact for vendors and contractors

• Ensure vendors have proper access, support, and understanding of site requirements to execute work successfully

• Monitor vendor activities to ensure compliance with safety, operational, and quality standards

• Coordinate across internal teams and external partners to keep work progressing efficiently

Facilities & Systems Support

• Support and oversee work involving critical infrastructure systems, including: 

â—‹ HVAC (air handlers, exhaust fans, VFDs)

â—‹ Chilled water and hydronic systems

â—‹ Geothermal and cooling systems

â—‹ Electrical and power systems (UPS, generators, MV/LV systems)

• Assist with commissioning and retro-commissioning activities as needed

Incident Management & Problem Resolution

• Take ownership when cooling, heating, or other facility systems experience issues or outages

• Coordinate vendors and internal teams to troubleshoot, escalate, and resolve problems quickly

• Ensure minimal impact to data center operations by driving timely issue resolution

• Track and document incidents, actions taken, and outcomes

Operational Oversight

• Review vendor work, test plans, and documentation to ensure alignment with design intent and operational requirements

• Support reporting on project progress, vendor performance, and system status

• Help maintain a safe, organized, and compliant work environment

Work Environment

• Fast-paced, mission-critical data center environment

• High level of coordination across vendors, facilities, and operations teams

• Mix of hands-on support and coordination/oversight responsibilities

• Requires responsiveness to real-time issues impacting critical systems

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data center operations, facilities, commissioning, or critical infrastructure environments

• Strong understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC, cooling, geothermal) or electrical infrastructure

• Experience working with or managing vendors/contractors on-site

• Ability to troubleshoot issues and coordinate resolution in high-pressure situations

• Comfortable reviewing technical documentation (drawings, specs, submittals)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) or commissioning/retro-commissioning

• Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) or Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS)

• Familiarity with incident management, ticketing systems, or workflow tools

• Strong organizational and communication skills in cross-functional environments

• Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience

This is a Contract position based out of Umatilla, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
