The Team
Black & Veatch's Infrastructure Advisory Team focuses on specific infrastructure needs of municipalities, state and local governments, and specialized physical and digital infrastructure solutions for government and federal agencies. By joining our Infrastructure Advisory, you will be able to provide program management type solutions around infrastructure for community benefit.
The Opportunity
As the Program Manager, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Manage all aspects of large Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC)/Service projects, including risk to cost, schedule, quality
    • Become conversant with our engineering capabilities. Including strengths, weaknesses, and gaps.
  • Domain experience in utility and energy systems with 10 year's experience with utility operations, Program Management, risk management and financial understanding and implications.
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day successful execution of contracted engineering, procurement, and construction scope in the areas of performance, financial metrics, planning, schedule, quality, contractual compliance, safety, and client satisfaction
    • Act as an advisor for owners and regional leadership for program controls and project execution strategies.
  • Provide for the successful staffing of the project.
    • Have an understanding of program resources and the necessity for mobility of program resources.
  • Manage and lead large teams of multi-discipline professionals
    • Lead, mentor, and grow internal talent.
  • Coordinate and integrate the activities associated with the engineering, procurement, construction, and startup elements of the project team, including the activities of all third party companies contributing to the initiative
  • Represent Black & Veatch at a high level Client facing role leveraging experience around stakeholder management, including coordinating all aspects of communication internal and external at all levels.
  • Subcontractor coordination and the ability to lead non-Black & Veatch contractors that have been procured by the Client and leading these sub-contractors into a successful workflow by delivering on client expectations.
  • Continuous improvement methodology to enhance the overall program scale and efficiencies based on lessons learned.

This role will be designated in our business traveler work schedule. We are committed to providing a healthy, safe and flexible work environment for all professionals while helping them remain productive and connected. Our business traveler work schedule includes BV professionals who travel consistently 60% or more of their work schedule and provide flexibility around being in an office location.
  • Days during travel weeks that are non-travel days, professionals may work in the office or at a remote location

On non-travel work weeks, professionals may work in a BV office location 3 days a week and in a remote location 2 days a week

  • Manages large end to end project to include engineering through the project lifecyle involving multiple clients or partners or medium EPC projects.
  • Manages multiple clients and/or projects where the project team, client structure and/or project location present greater challenges.
  • Obtains new/repeat business on large size projects; supports contract negotiations with clients.
  • Manages multiple risks which includes fixed price or new technology or non-domestic markets or new clients.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
