Job description

By Light Professional IT Services LLC readies warfighters and federal agencies with technology and systems engineered to connect, protect, and prepare individuals and teams for whatever comes next. Headquartered in McLean, VA, By Light supports defense, civilian, and commercial IT customers worldwide.


We are seeking a mission-driven Current Operations Planner to support the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) J-3 Directorate. This role plays a critical part in managing and synchronizing current operations across the Department of Defense Information Network (DODIN), providing real-time situational awareness, incident coordination, and operational decision support within a high-tempo environment.


Operational Execution & Coordination

  • Monitor and manage day-to-day operations within DISA’s Operations Center, ensuring continuous situational awareness across the enterprise.

  • Coordinate and execute tasking through operational directives (e.g., TASKORDs, OPORDs), and support the integration of new missions or directives into the operational flow.

  • Respond to cyber incidents and emerging threats, working closely with Cyber Protection Teams (CPTs), Joint Force Headquarters–DODIN (JFHQ-DODIN), and other key stakeholders.

  • Facilitate collaboration across the J-3, J-5 (Plans), and J-7 (Training) Directorates to align current operations with strategic planning and readiness objectives.

Information & Reporting

  • Produce and disseminate timely and accurate situational reports (SITREPs), incident summaries, and operational updates to senior leadership and partner organizations.

  • Provide informed recommendations and real-time analysis to support command decision-making during contingency and crisis events.

  • Participate in and support Crisis Action Teams (CATs), Operational Planning Teams (OPTs), and Joint Operations Centers (JOCs) as required.


  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in joint operations planning, current operations, or C2 environments.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop, analyze, and execute plans receiving input from multiple organizations.

  • Experience with Course of Action (COA) development and operational plan execution.

  • Deep understanding of the Joint Planning Process (JPP) and Military Adaptive Planning and Execution (APEX) processes.

  • Experience with Cyber Protection Team (CPT) planning and mission support.

  • Proficiency with command and control systems and tools such as JPES, JOPES, GCCS-J.

  • Currently holds a DoD 8570 certification at IAT or IAM Level I.


  • Prior experience supporting Combatant Commands (CCMDs), USCYBERCOM, or JFHQ-DODIN.

  • Experience working in a Joint Operations Center or similar high-tempo environment.

  • Familiarity with DODIN operations, incident response coordination, and cyber defense.

  • PMP or equivalent management certification.


This position requires a TS/SCI clearance at the time of application. 


Salary Minimum:150,000.00

Salary Maximum:$165,000.00
