Hours: 7:00am-5:00pm + some out of school time responsibilities

Position Summary:
Reporting to the School Director, the Operations Manager is responsible for leading all non-instructional functions of the school to support a safe, organized, and high-performing learning environment. The Operations Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the school while leading and developing a team of Operations Associates, Operations Assistants, Food Service Coordinators, and Bus Attendants.
This role requires a dynamic, proactive leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, approaches challenges with a solutions-oriented mindset, and inspires others through positivity, professionalism, and accountability. The Operations Manager serves as the operational backbone of the school, anticipating needs, solving complex problems, building strong relationships, and creating systems that allow teachers to focus on delivering exceptional instruction.
 
The Operations Manager will lead the Operations Team to ensure quality in the following areas: 
  • Lead all daily school operations to support efficient, compliant, and scholar-centered school functions.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop the Operations Team, fostering a culture of collaboration, ownership, continuous improvement, and exceptional customer service.
  • Build a positive team culture that emphasizes accountability, professionalism, responsiveness, and operational excellence.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership by making sound decisions, managing competing priorities, and remaining calm under pressure.
  • Identify operational challenges proactively and develop practical, innovative solutions that improve school efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Oversee school compliance with federal, state, and network policies while maintaining accurate documentation and timely reporting.
  • Manage student enrollment, attendance, recordkeeping, transportation, food service, and health and safety procedures.
  • Oversee procurement, inventory management, vendor relationships, invoice processing, and budget monitoring.
  • Coordinate school-wide logistics, including testing, field trips, graduation, family events, staff events, emergency drills, and special programs.
  • Manage facilities operations by coordinating maintenance requests, building readiness, security procedures, and emergency preparedness.
  • Oversee technology systems and operational platforms, including ATS, SchoolMint, Galaxy, FAMIS, and other school-based systems.
  • Analyze operational data to identify trends, improve processes, and support strategic decision-making.
  • Build positive relationships with scholars, families, staff, vendors, and external partners.
  • Respond to unexpected operational issues with urgency, professionalism, and sound judgment.
  • Lead operational projects from planning through execution while meeting deadlines, maintaining compliance, and delivering high-quality results.
  • Partner with the School Director on operational planning, strategic initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in school operations, office administration, or educational leadership.
  • Previous experience working in a charter school, K-12 school, higher education, or nonprofit organization.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate others, provide coaching, and build high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and critical-thinking skills with the ability to anticipate challenges and implement effective solutions.
  • Positive, adaptable, and resilient attitude with the ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence.
  • Experience managing budgets, purchasing, inventory, and vendor relationships.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).

  • Strong customer service orientation and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects from planning through implementation.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.
