Position Summary

Regional Pathologists is seeking a highly motivated, technically curious, and relationship-driven Manager to support and optimize operations at a clinical physician-owned laboratory (POL) specializing in nephrology in Tampa, Florida. This full-time, on-site role is ideal for a fast-learning clinical laboratory operations professional who is ready to grow into a broader operational leadership position while working closely with experienced executives, laboratory leadership, physicians, vendors, and client stakeholders.

The POL Manager will be based full-time at the Tampa POL and should be prepared for up to 50% travel to support related operational, vendor, client, training, and business needs. The role will focus on learning, standardizing, strengthening, and continuously improving POL operations, workflows, systems, compliance practices, logistics, tools, and client relationships. This position is a full-time, exempt, salaried W2 employment opportunity. The selected candidate must be authorized to work in the U.S. as visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Reporting Structure

The POL Manager will report directly to the Global Technical Manager, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the POL Medical Director. The role will work collaboratively with the POL Supervisor and other operational peers, while also preparing updates, insights, and presentations for the Board of Directors as needed.

Key Responsibilities

·         Learn all aspects of Tampa POL operations, including specimen flow, test ordering, accessioning, processing, reporting, quality control, vendor coordination, inventory, logistics, and client service expectations.

·         Partner with the Global Technical Manager, POL Medical Director, POL Supervisor, and executive leadership to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, scalability, and service quality.

·         Evaluate existing workflows, systems, tools, and standard operating practices; recommend practical improvements that strengthen turnaround time, quality, compliance, communication, and accountability.

·         Support compliance with applicable clinical laboratory regulations, quality standards, safety practices, documentation requirements, training expectations, and inspection readiness.

·         Develop a working command of laboratory software, reporting tools, data sources, and operational dashboards in order to monitor performance and identify trends.

·         Analyze operational, quality, productivity, logistics, and client-service data to identify patterns, root causes, risks, and opportunities for program modification.

·         Prepare concise findings, recommendations, and operational updates for internal leadership and the Board of Directors.

·         Collaborate closely with the POL Supervisor and team members to support staffing coordination, training reinforcement, workflow discipline, issue escalation, and continuous improvement.

·         Build strong working relationships with physicians, clinical staff, internal peers, vendors, couriers, technology partners, and client stakeholders.

·         Participate in hands-on training with seasoned executives and apply that training to day-to-day problem solving, operational planning, and leadership development.

·         Support vendor management activities, including service expectations, supply continuity, instrument or software support, issue tracking, and follow-through.

·         Travel as needed, up to 50%, to support operational implementation, education, vendor coordination, client engagement, performance review, or related business needs.

Required Qualifications

·         3–5 years of experience in clinical laboratory operations, preferably including supervisory, management, project leadership, or workflow improvement responsibilities.

·         Bachelor’s degree required; degree in clinical laboratory science, medical technology, biology, chemistry, healthcare administration, operations, or a related technical field preferred.

·         Demonstrated understanding of clinical laboratory operations, quality systems, compliance expectations, specimen logistics, and the importance of accurate and timely results.

·         Strong technical aptitude and ability to quickly learn laboratory software, reporting systems, workflow tools, data platforms, and operational processes.

·         Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with laboratory staff, executives, physicians, vendors, clients, and Board-level audiences.

·         Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret operational data, identify meaningful trends, develop insights, and recommend practical program modifications.

·         Excellent interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and ability to build trust with team members, physicians, business partners, and client contacts.

·         Ability to work full-time on-site at the Tampa POL and travel up to 50% as business needs require.

·         Strong time-management, accountability, and organizational skills.

·         Must be authorized to work in the U.S., visa sponsorship is not available.

Preferred Qualifications

·         Prior experience in a physician office laboratory, nephrology-related laboratory environment, specialty clinical laboratory, or multi-site laboratory operation.

·         Experience supporting inspections, audits, CAP, CLIA, state laboratory requirements, quality assurance initiatives, or laboratory documentation programs.

·         Experience improving workflows, implementing operational tools, coordinating vendors, or leading cross-functional process improvement projects.

·         Comfort presenting performance metrics, operational updates, recommendations, and risks to senior leadership or governing boards.

·         Familiarity with laboratory information systems, electronic medical record interfaces, specimen tracking processes, courier logistics, or laboratory analytics tools.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range for the position is $80,000 - 100,000 (annual). The position also includes a benefits package designed to support employees, including health benefits, paid time off, and company holidays.
