We are seeking a strong, hands-on leader for our Washington, NC facility to lead operations, develop talent, and drive safety, quality, and performance outcomes while supporting our mission to improve patient care. 

Production & Execution 

  • Actively Analyze Key Performance Indicators for operation and adjust/implement lean manufacturing and quality processes and systems leveraging ITW Toolbox – PLS, 80/20, etc., and related world class manufacturing improvement techniques to achieve operational excellence and optimal P&L improvement  

  • Own production performance across facility, (on-time delivery, quality, lead time) and delivers best-in-class operations around production efficiency and safety) ensuring alignment to business priorities and customer commitments. 

  • Proactively direct the resolution of operational, quality, and maintenance issues to ensure effective management of cost and prevention of operational delays  

  • Partner with site leadership team to develop and maintain a reliable production system based on highly standardized work and a cross-trained workforce. 

  • Balance labor capacity and machine utilization against volatile demand signals to maximize throughput and minimize lead times and WIP inventory. 

  • Utilize visual factory management and enable problem detection and results reporting in real-time. 

  • Proactively communicate production risks, delays, or shortages to stakeholders in Sourcing, Sales and Customer Service as well as Operations leadership. 

  • Lead, develop, and implement budget, policies and procedures that support and drive annual plan and longe range plans. 

People Leadership & Culture 

  • Champions the ITW Leadership Development framework, developing talent within the location.  Identifies and develops key leaders for future roles.  

  • Set clear expectations and hold team members accountable for safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee development. 

  • Provide visible leadership on the production floor to maintain accountability, morale, and a professional work environment. Serve as a change leader, ensuring new processes, standards, and systems are effectively implemented and adopted. 

  • Conduct performance reviews, provide ongoing feedback, manage attendance and timekeeping, and address performance or conduct issues in partnership with supervisor and human resources in accordance with company policies. 

  • Support workforce planning, recruiting, onboarding, and succession development for production employees. 

Quality & Continuous Improvement 

  • Institutionalize a culture of root-cause problem solving (A3, 5-Why, Ishikawa) to move the facility from 'reactive firefighting' to 'proactive optimization'. 

  • Lead improvements activities and teach front-line leads and production employees to identify waste and take action. 

  • Recommends, through Capital Expenditure process, the purchase of new equipment. Reviews recommendations to modify, replace or scrap molds, machines, and special tooling  

  • Drive continuous improvement and waste reduction initiatives.  

Safety & Compliance 

  • Partner with Safety and Facilities to promote a safe, compliant work environment. 

  • Ensure employees are trained and compliant with safety procedures, EHS requirements, and safe work practices. 

  • Reinforce 'All Accidents are Preventable’ as a core value and address unsafe behaviors or conditions promptly.  

 

Position Skills and Experience Requirements:  

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree - B. A./B.S. from four-year College or University in Business/Engineering or Technical Concentration or equivalent ITW experience; Master’s Degree a plus 

  • Minimum 5 years of management experience in leading large growing lean manufacturing operations 

  • Injection molding experience a plus 

  • Medical industry experience a plus 

  • Ability to develop performance levels to meet operational excellence 

  • Excellent time management, prioritization abilities, and strong project management skills 

  • Ability to develop and implement strategies 

  • Strong business analytical skills, with 80/20 mindset 

  • Strong financial acumen including working knowledge of budgeting, sales, and business development 

  • Exceptional track record of developing and implementing operational plans to improve efficiency 

  • Ability to manage complexity and change 

  • Demonstrated ability to make tough business and leadership decisions 

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with experience in communicating and working with a remote staff 

  • Ability to generate respect and trust from staff and external constituencies along with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a results driven, team-oriented environment 

  • Personally driven and motivates others to excel 

  • Ability to identify and develop future leaders/managers 

  • Willing to travel; primarily domestic and occasionally world-wide 

Compensation Information:

This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this role. Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, market level, other job-related factors, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. As applicable this role will also receive overtime compensation and may be eligible for shift premium compensation.

Pay Range: $130,000-155,000 annualized salary plus variable bonus eligible

Vacation - up to 120 hours within first year

Sick - up to 40 hours of time within first year
