Scope of Position

The Manager, Nursing Business Operations oversees business operations and administrative oversight of the Nursing Business Office supporting all Nursing units (the "Nursing Department") across the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center ("OSUWMC"). The Manager is responsible for identifying financial issues and implementing improvements that will enhance the organization's profitability. The Manager, in collaboration with other key stakeholders (Finance and Nursing Leadership), is accountable for developing the annual budget for the Nursing Department and tracking on-going financial performance to those targets throughout the year. The Manager provides business analytic support and in-sights to Senior Leadership (Nursing, Finance, and Executive Directors) to allow data-driven decision making.

The Manager supervises, develops, and evaluates the Nursing Business Operations staff. The Manager reports to the James Director of Business Operations.

Position Summary

The Manager, Nursing Business Operations leads the business and administrative operations of the Nursing Business Office. The Manager provides oversight in developing and translating the financial budget and fiscal year objectives of the Nursing Department into action and achievement. The Manager helps oversee business transactions, expense management, and financial operations of the Nursing Department. The Manager establishes and maintains systems for reporting key performance metrics that monitor and report the overall performance and throughput of the clinical operations of the Nursing Department, and provides consultation and education to the Chief Nursing Officers and other Nursing Leadership. The Manager collaborates across OSUWMC on system-wide analyses and initiatives to promote cohesiveness and the effective utilization of system resources to achieve organization goals and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

For Hire: Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or applicable field, or equivalent experience. Advanced degree preferred. Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience required. Ability to work in matrix environment and provide team leadership across reporting and departmental lines.

Administrative management with relevant hospital operations experience desired. Experience with financial and data visualization systems (Tableau), Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Power Point, Access or other database applications are essential. Experience with financial, clinical data, and business information systems is highly desirable. Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Ongoing:Maintain licensure (if applicable). Demonstrated competency to meet essential job functions. Ongoing participation in professional organizations that provide continuing educational opportunities and promote professional advancement. Demonstrated ability to function as an interdisciplinary team member who actively contributes to the effective planning, coordination, and implementation of healthcare services to meet the needs of the patients, families and community served.
