What we need
Symbotic is seeking an Automation General Manager to lead operations at one of our customer distribution center sites. In this role you'll drive operational excellence, build strong customer partnerships, and develop a high-performing team. We're looking for a leader who sets the tone someone who holds the team accountable, communicates with clarity, and is genuinely committed to delivering best-in-class results.
What we do
The General Manager is part of the site operations team, which is part of the Customer Operations organization. The Customer Operations organization is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of Symbotic's robotic material handling system. The Customer Operations organization drives operational excellence by engaging and partnering with our onsite customers to drive best-in-class quality, safety and system performance.
What you'll do
  • Oversee day-to-day automation operations and production management at the customer site.

  • Conduct performance assessments, analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions.

  • Own the site operating plan and customer financial commitments and lead the team in executing against them.

  • Monitor and report on operational performance to customers and internal cross-functional teams.

  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by maintaining quality standards and resolving issues promptly.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the site operations team by fostering a collaborative environment that encourages growth and continuous improvement.

  • Champion a culture of safety, quality, and operational discipline across the site.

  • Ensure full compliance with safety regulations, LOTO protocols, and company policies.

  • Support team development through coaching, training, and hands-on leadership.

What you'll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Industrial Automation, or Business Administration or equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum of 7 years of functional management and direct supervisory experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years of direct leadership within an operations environment.

  • Experience in logistics, material management, inventory control, or manufacturing operations.

  • Strong understanding of operational metrics and performance management.

  • Proven ability to drive change and implement process improvements.

  • Budget preparation and financial management experience.

  • Flexibility for overtime and travel as needed.

Our Environment
  • Up to 10-15% of travel may be required; travel during onboarding/training will be up to 60%. Employees must have a valid driver's license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.

  • The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed bi-weekly.

  • There will be steep stairs to climb into the structure. You may be required to routinely walk up and down stairs to navigate the automation structure.

  • You will regularly be near railings that are high off the ground.

  • Subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily temperature changes. Must be capable of working in temperatures ranging from 105° to 32° Fahrenheit.

  • Frequent ability to safely and efficiently lift items weighing up to 50lbs and move items weighing up to 80lbs.

  • Stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours and is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms.

  • The employee is routinely required to work at heights of up to 45 feet and within restrictive areas of 24 inches. Where you may need to be able to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • Must be capable of occasional and/or continuous feeling, seeing, hearing, bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, pulling, balancing, gripping, climbing, crawling, sitting, handling objects, and repetitive movement using both hands and feet. Must comply with all safety requirements and protocols, including without limitation Lock out tag out safety protocols and fall protection safety protocols.

The base range for this position in the posted location is $103,750.00 - $148,500.00 however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401K, PTO and/or other benefits.
