Job responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of heightened risk themes and serve as a subject matter expert on the firm's risk policy decision tree.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for reviewing, triaging, and resolving risk escalations for business models requiring enhanced due diligence.
  • Maintain comprehensive governance documentation and communicate prohibited or restricted products and services to stakeholders, while serving as a subject matter expert on card network rules and applicable regulatory requirements to assess the design and operating effectiveness of control frameworks.
  • Lead and deliver strategic initiatives from intake through execution, including scope definition, milestone management, dependency tracking, risk/issue management, and executive-level status reporting.
  • Partner with internal Technology teams and external technical integrators to understand end-to-end payment flows and operational processes, translating governance and control requirements into actionable, implementable outcomes.
  • Demonstrate strong client-facing capabilities, including professional presence and effective communication with senior stakeholders.
  • Travel to client corporate offices as needed to conduct onsite fieldwork, collect and validate supporting evidence, and deliver insights-driven management reports for due diligence and assessment packages.
  • Build strong partnerships across internal stakeholders and drive cross-functional alignment to achieve timely outcomes.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of standard operating procedures, governance routines, and change management processes.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Program/project management experience leading cross-functional delivery (preferably in payments, merchant acquiring, processor platforms, or third-party risk/governance contexts).
  • Ability to engage credibly with technical teams/integrators and translate technical details into risk, governance, and control requirements (not software development, but technical fluency).
  • People management experience with demonstrated coaching and performance leadership. 
  • Demonstrated executive presence and exceptional presentation capability, with the judgment to make sound, timely decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and present effectively to senior and executive stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to rapidly identify key risk and compliance vulnerabilities and escalate appropriately in accordance with established governance and risk frameworks.
  • Strong time management, project management, change management, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to deadlines.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 3 plus years of people management and leadership experience.
  • 5 plus years client-facing or front-office experience.
  • Qualifications in a relevant discipline, with a strong track record of detail-oriented execution, professional judgment, and the ability to identify and assess risk issues while operating strategically in a highly regulated environment.
  • Experience with Payment Brands (Visa, Mastercard, Discover) program rules and requirements.
  • Experience with data analysis (e.g., Microsoft Loop, Microsoft Project, Alteryx, Tableau).
