Job description

The experienced Associate for the Hotel Asset Management Team will be based in Starwood's office in NYC. The Associate will be responsible for supporting strategic asset management initiatives, focusing on Starwood's hotel portfolio across platform company investments, full service and select service hotels.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in evaluating and implementing company and asset-level strategies regarding revenue and expense management, capital deployment, real estate transactions, corporate initiatives, and loan refinancings
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc internal and external reporting processes, including building and maintaining valuation models, forecasting investment cash flow, and preparing ancillary analyses and reports for accounting, capital markets, and fund management
  • Effectuate quarterly underwriting of existing investment thesis and performance/strategy updates for senior Starwood executives
  • Facilitate and run disposition and refinancing transactions alongside other Starwood verticals
  • Prepare investment memos and investment update presentations for senior firm leadership and respond to ad hoc requests from across the firm regarding hotel investments
  • Liaise with portfolio company and hotel management teams and representatives from JV partners to assist with reporting, scheduling, relationship management, and project management
  • Participate in monthly operating review and quarterly board meetings with hotel and corporate management teams
  • Maintain knowledge of local hotel markets, including market performance trends, competitor information, recent transactions, and supply pipeline
  • Collaborate with internal and external specialists and advisors to evaluate and implement value-add initiatives
  • Develop relationships across Starwood and externally with JV partners, management and property teams, lenders, counsel, brokers, brand representatives, and consultants
  • Travel, to visit real estate assets, companies and other key stakeholders and partners

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years relevant experience in a finance or real estate role
  • Bachelor's degree in real estate, finance, business, or related field
  • Background and interest in real estate, finance, accounting, and/or capital markets along with a proficiency in financial and accounting concepts
  • Strong financial modeling, presentation, communication (written and oral), and project management skills
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and demanding environment with limited supervision
  • Authorization to work in the United States
